**Free extension until Nov 30th for some people

**AT THIS TIME; there are reports from people used an embassy letter to request a 30 day extension (before the previous amnesty ran out on Sept 26th) and who have went back to get the under consideration stamp "loop closed". They were stamped in until Nov 30th

**60 day extensions after amnesty ends

**We have no information on how the "60 day extensions" (possibly without the embassy letter) will be handled either. Just have to wait it out and see what happens S

STV - Special Tourist VIsa

As far as the Special Tourist Visa (that's good for 90 days, and can be extended twice for 90 days each time) we know NOTHING more than is in the news. Period, end of story.

Contact the thai consulate in the country you're in, they will be the first to have the information of how it will work

We are not allowing posts about these things on the group right now because all we know is what you know

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
This post provides important updates for members regarding visa extensions for expats in Thailand. It highlights that some individuals who utilized an embassy letter before September 26th were able to secure a 30-day extension until November 30th. There's uncertainty about how 60-day extensions will be processed after the current amnesty period ends. The post also mentions that the Special Tourist Visa, valid for 90 days and extendable twice for 90 days, does not have additional information available yet. Members are advised to contact the local Thai consulate for the latest updates and to refrain from posting unverified information in the group.

We now have confirmation that IF you applied for a 30 day extension using the embassy letter between July 31st and Sept 26th and got your "extension of stay" stamp dated to Oct 26 that you CAN go back and get the stamp adjusted to Nov 30.

Thanks. I’ll go today 👍

question.. if you can enlighten me at would be very grateful.. so I was on the amnesty and managed to get an embassy letter.. which I took along to Bangkok immigration before sep 26.. I now have an “under consideration “ stamp for the 19th Oct.. my main 2 questions are with the new amnesty can I go back before that date to close the loop? And can I go back to a different immigration office? I’d come to Phuket and do it as was done in Bangkok? Appreciate any insight 🙏🏼

@Benjamin *****
ok thanks for that.. and when you say at least with the date, does that mean after that is ok? Or only on that day? Thanks again

you go back on the date on your stamp. That's what it says ON the stamp itself :/

Tod Daniels yes, I just wondered whether that had now changed under the new amnesty?

okay at this time all the information we have states that people who used the "embassy request" letter from July 31st to Sept 26th would get the 'free 30 days until Nov 30th'.

There is nothing that they said in the press conference which says people who got their "regular 30 day extension" during that time OR who got a medical extension during that time also can get the Nov 30th stamp or not. Give it some time people. Wait for this to actually come out in some written form AND wait for people to report back.

Just finished at CW and got stamped "under consideration" until 30th October. Went there with the embassy letter as my Non Imm B runs out on 6th October. I asked the officer if its likely to get 30 more days after (need to extend my lease) and she implicated that its very likely. So even going with the embassy letter now results in 30 days under consideration (at CW BKK).
Andreas ********
True words. Worst case would be that I dont get 30 more days and have to leave within 7 days from going back to CW on 30th Oct to close the loop?

Just emerged from CM having submitted the embassy letter before 26th and was stamped until Oct 26th (tourist amnesty). I queried it (not knowing about this latest twist, expected 30th Nov). They said “not now, come back in 2 weeks.” They explained they expect the November extension to be allowed later...

If my close-the-loop date is 15 Oct, how many days prior is it advised to go? And, if that only gets me until Oct 27, can I go with another embassy letter and apply for further 30 extension on the same trip to CW?
Chris *********
yes I know what the date is, but as I said someone spoke as if it were a hard deadline and going on the date was not advisable. This is the first I've heard that I can go AFTER the Return On date.

@Benjamin *****
Ok great, thanks. However I read here that it was not advisable to go on the deadline date itself, so I'm asking how many days before would be good. But no, I was not planning on going after the indicated date, as that would be past my specific deadline.
Benjamin ******
Chris Michael I think you're getting it confused. The deadline date is when you apply for an extension of stay itself. For closing the "under consideration" stamp, you *should* go on the exact date, but you can go slightly later, if needed.

I can comment only on my experience today. But I was on the under consideration stamp and at Khon Kaen today I received a stamp until 30 Nov.
Ben *****
Khon Kaen is my local immigration office as well so happy to hear this. :)

Thank you so much Tod. It's basically a press conference announcement that didn't make it thru the process to the gazette, so we will wait. And be hopeful :-) Thanks again!
