Neil Clarke asked

Does my case daughter... need to travel with the husband/father to the UK (or wherever) to get that non O at the same time.... or can it be got by the husband-father when he is doing his non B.... quite inconvenient for my daughter to travel (critical school period) when I go for mine.

It seems now you only get a single entry on a first Business visa.... then the work permit... then you can get a multiple entry.

When I return there won't be enough time to get the work permit before her visa has fully expired... including all allowable extensions.... but if I take her out before I get the work permit then I loose the new Single Entry Bus Visa..

TLDR : Answer Summary
Neil Clarke is inquiring whether his daughter needs to accompany him to the UK to apply for a Non-O visa, or if he can obtain it separately while applying for his Non-B visa. He mentions the inconvenience of travel during a critical school period for his daughter and discusses the implications of her current visa status, including the option of a border run to extend her stay. Comments clarify that the daughter needs to be with him for a Non-O visa application, and offer suggestions regarding her current visa situation.

She is not on an Ed visa.... last time she came in was on a Visa free entry. She is not at school here but does distance education from Australia.... thanks..... and maybe I will have to postpone getting the Non B till my next trip.... when she can come.....and just do some sort of border run with her.... Can she just go over the border at Mai Sai... or with more travel Vientiane.... and get 15 days.... after she has had 67 days on the visa free entry... that extra time would give me long enough to do the work permit.... I am being told currently it will need 10 to 14 days? Vinny will need his wife with him when he gets his Visa in the UK.... sorry if the parallels with his case are too tenuous... and thanks for the prompt response.

there is no 15 day visa exempt entries anymore. they're 30 days at land crossings but you can only get TWO 30 day visa exempt entries by land in a calendar year.

Why not just take her to vientiane and get her a single entry tourist visa? That'd get her 60 days when she enters and she can extend that by 30 days at the immigration office for 1900baht.

For that matter why don't you just get your 90 day Non-B at the thai consulate in Vientiane? There's nothing that makes you go back to the UK to get that visa. That way you BOTH could apply for your visas at the same time, you for the Non-B and her for the Non-O.

Yep your daughter would need to be WITH you to get a Non-O visa.

However if she's on an ED visa extension right now, there's no problem, with you canceling her ED extension and immediately applying for an extension of stay based on being with a parent who legally works here.

Just curious why your child wouldn't stay on an ED visa rather than switch to a Non-O/extension?
