ATTENTION MEMBERS CURRENTLY ON AMNESTY
AT THIS TIME <- meaning as of right now, the NEW amnesty plan was approved by the thai cabinet and info-graphics have gone up on many of the thai immigration office websites around the country.
HOWEVER: as far as we know the proposal that passed the thai cabinet has been signed off by Prayuth on the 23rd, but we haven't seen the published version in the Royal Gazette and have not seen a Police Order written spelling out exactly how it will work..
So, other than what's on the info-graphics or been quoted by immigration officers in articles there is little or NO hard concrete real information about how it will work.
If you're gonna leave the country on or before the 26th of Sept you don't do anything, just stamp out when you leave,
BUT
IF you wanna stay past the 26th you need to sort out a long term solution visa/extension-wise OR get a letter from your embassy or a letter from a doctor/hospital here stating why you can't leave and you would go apply for an extension based on inability to travel.
That is all we know, sorry.
TLDR : Answer Summary
This post provides important updates for expats in Thailand currently under the amnesty program. It states that while a new amnesty plan has been approved, detailed information is sparse. Expats planning to leave by September 26 need not take action, but those wishing to extend their stay must arrange a long-term visa or obtain documentation from their embassy or medical professionals stating their inability to leave.
