you're fine going tomorrow, if your stamp expires on a day that the immigration office is closed (weekends or holidays) AND you go the very next day they're open you don't get an overstay fine and you can extend your visa without a problem.

Funny enough the Thai Embassy in Vientiane is open. I got about 100 enquires in the past days. And as Tod said, the border are open.
