TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the process of securing a long-term visa extension in Thailand based on marriage to a Thai citizen. It outlines the necessary steps, such as securing 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account, applying for a 90-day Non-O visa, and subsequently applying for a one-year extension. However, it clarifies that one cannot directly obtain a one-year extension from a 30-day visa-exempt entry without first obtaining a 90-day Non-O visa.

1 - You get your 400K baht funds in the bank in your name only
2 - You GO to your immigration office and apply for a 90 day Non-O visa for 2000baht
*NOTE: (there is no requirement that the funds be in the account for any length of time only that you have a minimum of 15 days left on your current stamp)
3 - The application goes under review for 14 days and you go back to get the Non-O visa and a NEW 90 day stamp inked in
THEN
4 -Once that new 90 day stamp runs down to 30 days or less AND your 400K baht is in the thai bank account for 2 months you go back and apply for a year extension based on marriage to a thai for 1900bhat
5 - That will go under consideration for 30 days and then you go back and get the year inked in
That is how the process works

This is the best explanation of that process I've seen. Not even [professionals] explain it this well.
thanx for the thanx, I have limited skill-set ๐

that's not how it works sadly ๐
You left out a critical step.
You can't get a year extension from a 30 day visa exempt entry ๐ not even if you have the 30 day extension and the 60 day visit family extension.
You FIRST have to get a 90 day Non-O visa <- that is the critical step in the whole process going from a visa exempt entry to a non-O visa to a year extension and you can't skip it
okay, so what is it that I'm getting? I went the other day and immigration said they are giving me another 30 days, then the 60 days and then at that point my money will have been in for over two months and then they will give me the 1 year extension ๐คท
I think you need to READ my following comment because it tells you how to do it
I think you are having a lost in translation moment with the immigration office, because what's not gonna happen is you getting a year extension without FIRST getting that 90 day non-O visa from them ๐
I just seem you other comment now, thanks, I get it now, I see the steps of the process now, I don't really mind just as long as I finally end up with the damn thing ๐๐
Thanks for the clarity ๐

Or will they be giving me the 90 day thing after the 60 days, then the 1 year?
