TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around which counter to approach for obtaining a 30-day extension following the end of the amnesty period on September 26. It suggests that the type of entry stamp prior to entering the amnesty should be considered.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.

Then that would put you on amnesty until the 26th of Sept, and if you can't find a way to stay longer than that you need to "prepare to depart" on or by that date..

unfortunately it's either a medical extension OR you get a letter from your country's consulate here stating you can't travel due to covid. Those seem to be your only two viable options to stay longer than the 26th of Sept. :(
Thanks, Tod. Yeah, we were hoping Thai govt would further recognize the thousands of people who were brought to Thailand by employers from neighboring countries where we work this spring because it was considered safer than our residence countries (mostly from SE Asia and S Asia countries). We can always go back to our countries of origin but it's just a waste of money, effort, and time for everyone. Thanks for your advice in any case!

I'd say see if you can get a letter from the doc stating that it is not advisable that you travel and you MIGHT be able to get an extension after the 26th based on medical reasons.

How about we start with what type of entry stamp you were on before you went on amnesty
Good point. We have Non-Immigrant O stamps, 90 days, single entry, obtained for the purpose of coming to Thailand from our country of residence (Nepal) to deliver a baby here. Our stamps expired May 18 I believe. Nepal is still closed to commercial air travel.
easy now, there's no requirement that you go back to where you say you live. I take it you don't hold a Nepalese passport SO you can go back to where you really come from. There is nothing in the amnesty that says you can stay longer if you can't go back to where you want to. Only that if you can't find a way to stay you need to leave the country.
