I cant help but ask - do you mean the Non-O visa + yearly extension can be used for a family with children, ie the family can live in Thailand without working, simply 'raising their kids' here?

And requirement is 500,000b, seasoned in a Thai bank? We home school our kids and would love to raise them here (no working here as we have an income from renting our house in our home country, NZ), is it really possible? We are currently visiting on 6mo METV.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Non-O visa allows for yearly extensions and can indeed support a family's ability to reside in Thailand without the need for employment, as long as certain conditions are met. Specifically, maintaining a bank balance of 500,000 Thai Baht in a Thai bank account is one of the financial requirements to qualify for this visa. This setup is particularly suitable for expatriate families wishing to homeschool their children while enjoying life in Thailand without working.
