@Ross ******
few if any embassies here give the "letter" when you get a new passport anymore. AND while you should present it if you got one from your embassy when you got the new passport the O/P is asking about the 90 day reporting AFTER they get a new passport

To me
@Paul ******
it'd be hardly worth the hassle for 8-9 dollar difference in price between a Lao visa you buy with baht and one you buy with USD.

I wouldn't waste a second of time fooling with it

@Craig ********
you certainly could use the eExtension process because it'll be far faster than showing up out there to queue up with the zombie horde in section N 😉

AND

IMHO would not be a wasted 500 baht at all 😛

it's that extension process run by VFS Global for the immigration office, the minimum "service fee" is 500 baht, plus the 1900baht extension,

You apply upload your documents, pay wait for them to approve it and tell you when you go to the 3rd floor of Building B at the government complex with all your paperwork and then they put the eExtension sticker in your passport

you go here once it's approved (its really the 3rd floor because the main immigration office is located on the 2nd floor (even though you walk right into that floor from outside 😮 )

@Arthur ****
yep, I know one teacher who was up at midnight to snap an appt booking when the next day became available a month in advance 😮

@Sujy ********
good to know, strange they're doing that, and it's probably a sucky exchange rate 😛

I'm sure they'll take baht for the visa at the 1700 baht price.

You can only book an appt out one month (that's all that is available at any given time)

SO as of today you could be able to book until June 12th

All the appts are booked up for that extension type. 😮

You can go online just after midnight tonight when the 13th of June comes up and snap up an appt then.

The system is working fine..

You can check it's working by selecting something that no one really makes an appt for 😛 (like a certificate of residence) and looking at the openings available 🙂

@Paul ********
you need to really look 'em over, no marks no tears, no bad folds 😛

The people at the border would rather take baht from you than USD so they are hard on letting you pay with US bills

still, if you want to try it almost every bank in thailand will trade out currency so stop in to one of the local ones and see.
