Ok so need a bit of advice from those in the know. I arrived in Thailand on a Non O visa on the 18/06 went to the local immigration office yesterday to get proof of where I am living ( to open bank account ) To get all things sorted for retirement extension. Hit a bit of a wall when the immigration officer said you can not ask for the retirement extension because in thai in the remarks line they had written business. The application was submitted via the London Embassy. Has anyone a) been in this situation, and what solutions did you find. The Officer said you need new Non O go to Laos and apply there.
My possible solution and happy to be shot down if this is a stupid thought is go to Laos return on a visa exempt stamp and convert that in country to a Non O and then take the retirement extension.
In a perfect world trying to get the authorities to reissue a copy of the original visa with that word removed.
I am not sure if this is a “ thing” or not but I will mention it just in case. I just did my second 90 day report online after arriving back in Thailand on 31st December last year. I did my first report in person in March after multiple rejection of online submissions. Anyway 15 days before the due date of my second report I submitted on line last Sunday expecting to get a response on Monday morning. Monday morning came and went and no response. Tuesday morning came and went with no response and I had a bad feeling about the situation so I canceled my application and submitted a new one. Wednesday morning came and at 8-20am I received an approval email! Job done. I can’t prove that there is a problem if you submit on a weekend but I will make sure that I submit my next online report on a weekday just in case!
I am in Bangkok and coming up to my first 90 days and need to do my report. Can anyone confirm the first report can be done by mail? And one of the things requested on the immigration websites is a self addressed and stamped envelope - on the immigration.go.th it says to put a 10baht stamp, but on the Bangkok.immigration.go.th website it says a 35baht stamp. Not a huge cost either way but can anyone clarify? Thank you
My wife is a student at Bangkok International University. She has a non-immigrant ED Plus visa. From what I've read online, that should make me, her husband, eligible for a Non-Immigrant "O" (Dependent) visa. I asked the university but they weren't helpful and said I should check with Pathumthani Immigration Office to get details. I've called, but I only ever get Thai speakers, and emails and messages to them have remained unanswered. Can someone confirm if this is indeed possible, and perhaps kindly point me to where I can find the application steps and requirements?
Side question: I've scanned the boards here and see that proof of money in a bank account needs to STAY in the account for 2 months before it can be proof of financial stability, is that also true for this case? Thanks for any help.
In May 2025, I intentionally let my O retirement visa lapse. I was and am overseas so there was no overstay. I intend to go to Thailand for one week.
Should I expect any issues at the airport? Can I request a 7 day stamp? I don't want the IO to think that I am attempting to stay without the " proper" visa.
Hi all, my tourist visa was denied because when they asked for additional documentation it did not align with the original accommodation. I originally had an invitation to stay, and for the additional documentation supplied a hotel accommodation because the invitee is also on a tourist visa.
My visa was cancelled by the Thai Embassy.
So now I am looking for an agent to help me complete my visa to be sure it won’t be denied again!
I am looking for some recommendations of reputable companies and agents.
Has anyone tried applying for DTV from Vietnam using a brand new Vietnamese bank account that only has a single top-up transfer of 500,000 THB and no transaction history?
Hello. Coming from Canada, I work remotely for a Canadian company and my husband is retired. Was planning on DTV Workation based and him as spouse but seeing lots of ppl recommending o-visa. The O-A requires a re-entry permit if we leave for any length, I’m uncertain if the O-X does as well.
Question then…if i come over on a non-o can I still work remotely or am I better to stick with the DTV “Nomad Visa”? Second, can hubby apply for non-o and I apply for DTV or must we both hold the same type?
I applied to the Japanese consulate in Fukuoka, but they asked for all pages of my passport and since I had already left Japan, my application was cancelled.
I will reapply in Kuala Lumpur where I am currently staying.
"Have you ever applied for Thai visa? Yes No"
Which answer should I choose for this question?
I chose "No" when I applied to Fukuoka last time.
Since this is a reapplication, will it be "Yes"?
Or, since I have never applied for any visa other than DTV, will it be "No" this time too?
**Additional Note
I would like to explain why I am undecided.
My application to Fukuoka was not "Status: rejected" but "Status: Cancel Visa Application".
Cancel = no application?
I was notified by email that the reason for the cancellation was that I had left Japan.
In other words, this DTV is my first time applying for a visa to Thailand, and the result of that first application was "Cancel" instead of "rejected", so I am undecided.
