Hi guys, looking for some advice. I applied for a DTV (Soft Power – cooking class) visa through the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur (I’m Malaysian and was back for other errands). The embassy got back this morning and approved all my documents except the acceptance letter from my cooking school, stating that it must be an *official acceptance letter issued by the Thai government*.
I contacted my cooking school, but they said they are a private institution (so are other cooking schools?) and can only provide standard documents (payment receipt, enrollment confirmation, school profile, registration certificate, owner’s ID, etc.). At this point, they’ve already enrolled several DTV students, presumably approved through other embassies. This requirement didn’t seem to exist before, so I’m wondering if it’s a new or embassy-specific rule.
What would you suggest I do in this case? I’d prefer not to reapply through another embassy if this is now a general requirement, especially given the high visa fee. Has anyone faced a similar situation?
I got one issue that the resident address in the bank statement differ with current address, is it any issue and need to change the address before apply it?
Actually, I forgot to change my current address in my bank.
As an LTD company owner that works freelance for UK companies for a couple weeks to a couple month at a time in the UK, would a DTV be suitable to live in Thailand and travel back to the UK 2 or 3 times a year for work.
For clarity, while in Thailand there would be no working, not remotely online other than administration stuff, diary and accounts etc, all the actual freelancing would take place in the UK and payment would be received into UK banks, taxes paid to HMRC etc.
I have to fill out the lenght of my stay, which I dont know yet for sure. The Gym made me the letter for 1 year, but I wont stay that long. Just about 3-5 months.
Hi everyone, asking for a friend on the basis of visa exempt. Free 60 days and they want to extend for the 30. If they go to immigration let’s say a week before the full 60 is up, does the extension start from the time they go to the office or the time that the 60 days will expire? I remember it being when you go to the office, but reading mixed results online. Thank you!
I have a question regarding the 500,000 THB financial requirement for the DTV. Once the DTV has been approved and issued, is this amount required to:
* remain available at all times during the 5-year validity, and/or
* be shown again at each entry into Thailand?
Or is the 500,000 THB only assessed at the time of application, with no obligation to maintain or re-prove the same balance for future entries (assuming no other red flags)?
For context: after approval, I plan to use a large portion of these funds (around 80%) for personal expenses/investments outside Thailand, meaning that at some point the full 500,000 THB equivalent would no longer be available in my bank account.
I’m not asking about visa-exempt entry, but specifically for valid DTV holders making multiple entries over the 5-year period.
If anyone has first-hand experience or official guidance on this,
