# Thanks for the invite! I am 60 years old and recently retired. My wife is only 46. We are citizens of the US. We are thinking of Chiang Rai because of the air quality and smaller size of the city. We are trying to figure out the best way to obtain the visa. For myself it looks like the O-A visa for one year is our best option (though renewing every year seems like a hassle). The O-X for five years seems nice, but we hate to lock-in a good chunk of money in a bank account just sitting there unused. We do have investments at Fidelity that has partnered with the Krungthai Bank, but even if we tied our accounts to that bank, not sure if it counts as a "fixed" deposit even if my pension went into the account (the Thai Bank would still have a fairly low balance). Now concerning my wife, I heard there is an "O" visa that attaches to mine "O-A" visa? I am not sure how this works. Is it still for a year? What is needed on her end? I truly appreciate any help that you can give! Thank you.

Could a british expat help with this, preferably someone that's gone through the process in recent years, cos us old schoolers had it very different 20yrs ago when u just popped in to your local consulate.

The online E visa is stating I need 2 types of insurance, which do I actually need and where is best to go for best rate?

The police criminal record clearance, is the Police Certificate obtained from ACRO for £65 what they actually want?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

(Edited w/additional clarification)

Earlier in the year when the proposed changes to VOA, Visa exempt, and DTV were announced, it was also mentioned that the Non-immigration visas were going to change by reducing the number of categories/types with possible changes in the requirements. The window mentioned was Sept/Oct.(Dec?) I've not heard anything since. I know there's a different Administration in place now, but has there been any talk of the changes?

I can't find the original article but this has the bulleted "mid-term measures" I read before.

I want to apply for a 90 day Non Immigration O Visa based on retirement from the UK. There are two things i am unclear about.

First , I will submit confirmation of receipt of my employment pension. Is that acceptable?

Second , do I need to submit evidence of insurance for the 90 day period?

Any answers please

Hi, I'm on multiple entry O-A visa. It was granted by my country Thai consulate on 13/09/2023 and states "must be used by 12/09/2024". I arrived to Thailand on 09/11/2023 and since my insurance was finishing on 31/10/2024 I got stamped until that date.

I'm gonna extend my insurance one more year and planning to travel to Phnom Penh on 14/09/2024 to get stamp until 31/10/2025 if I understood properly from other comments in this group. If I extend my insurance until 09/11/2025 will I get that date? or max I can get now is 31/10/2025?

I believe I don't need to apply for re-entry since I have multiple entry granted, is that right? And once I'm back, if I want to travel abroad again, would I need to apply for re-entry? or the same conditions of my current visa will apply until 31/10/2025?

Not sure if this has previously been shared or communicated. Phuket immig has now removed the B3m insurance exemption/ waiver for the OA visa holders who arrived before Nov 2019. I wasnt able to verify this with an officer as I was unable to get past the gatekeepers they now employ, and I stopped bringing my insurance policy several years ago. They say it was gazzetted in sept last year surprised not to see anything in the media about it 🤔

Non O/A visa questions. below is background

1. Date of initial Visa issued 7 Aug 2023 with insurance valid up to 27 July 2024.

1. First stamped in 24 Sept 2023 with allow to stay until 27 July 2024

1. bought new insurance up to 3rd June 2025 - leave Thailand and came back 5th June 2024.

1. got stamped in with allow to stay stamp up to 3rd June 2025.

Does this means that I do not have to do anything by means of visit Bangkok immigration to extend the Non O/A visa or switch over to Non O Visa until sometime in May or June 2025?

do not want to miss any requirement so that i cannot get a renewal later on, i am planning to stay here for the next 10 yrs.

Thank you in advance.
