DTV Insurance question: has anyone made the DTV with Revolut ultra insurance?

Hi everyone! I’m really grateful to be here and to be surrounded by such a resourceful group. I want to say upfront that I have been doing my own research I’m not looking to skip that part at all. I’m just hoping to connect with some like-minded people who don’t mind sharing what they’ve learned along the way. Sometimes hearing real experiences helps bring clarity that research alone can’t always provide.
I’m currently navigating the visa options and, while I’ve looked into several of them, I’m still feeling a bit unsure there are so many choices. I’m 51 years old, coming from the U.S., and I noticed there are visas related to age, but I’m not entirely clear on how the age requirement works and which option might make the most sense for my situation.
My plan is to spend about one year in Bangkok. I’ll be visiting Thailand in April to explore neighborhoods and get a feel for where I’d like to live, then returning to the U.S. to finalize everything. If all goes as planned, I’ll be making the big move in late October. Ideally, I’d love to have my visa and paperwork handled before that initial April trip.
I’m really just hoping to connect with someone who’s open to guiding me, sharing insight, or pointing me in the right direction. I value doing my own homework, but community wisdom is always a gift.
And once I’m in Thailand, I’d absolutely love to continue conversations and build genuine connections maybe even meet up for tea or coffee now and then. I’m excited about this next chapter and about making new friends along the way.
Thank you so much in advance I’m truly happy to be here 🤍
Managed to get Thai bank account today , after going to bank then immigration to get address certified, back to bank then phone shop for sim in my name, was taking forever at bank then my girlfriend mentioned I would need insurance and then suddenly he sped up and issued bank book and debit card when he thought commission was coming his way but I won’t buy that at bank
Lots of hoops to jump through and 4 hours later I have bank accounts Happy days
Apart from insurance, why do so many get Non O visa for retirement rather than Non OA, which to me seems so much easier with a year to prepare for your extension?
I will be applying for the LTR WP soon and am curious about insurance requirements. I have three options. I can use VA Foreign Medical Program. Super easy to get paperwork. I can use CHAMP VA ins, a bit more difficult to get paperwork, but doable. Additionally, my Thai wife is a retired Thai government employee, and I can obtain her insurance. Which would be most prudent?
