Does anyone have any experience with getting an education visa for their child where the biological father has not consented (they’ve never had contact and we do not know his location)
I am looking into getting a court order but in the meantime wonder if anyone has experienced anything similar and what questions you were asked at immigration?
Important Notice: I have a DTV visa. To apply for a Non-O (under Thai Child) visa, I called the immigration office at BKK Airport to inquire if I could close my DTV visa there. They told me I didn't need to close it, that it would automatically close once the Non-O visa was approved. Trusting them, I came to Vietnam and submitted the application. TA-TA! My application was suspended due to missing documents. Guess what? They told me I couldn't apply for a Non-O visa while my DTV visa was active. My return ticket is for February 19th, but the Thai consulate in Vietnam is closed until February 23rd for the Chinese New Year. It sounds like a joke, but it's true. (It happened!)
Hello All , I have a DTV visa , my kid is here and I’m thinking to put him on the DT as family , my question is does he have to leave Thailand to be added ? Cheers Michael
My husband, my child, and I will be moving to Thailand this year on soft power DTV (cooking classes). Since my husband is not my child’s biological father, which option makes most sense?
1) I apply for the DTV and later have them both apply as my dependents (would prefer to have husband take classes so I can be home with my child)
2) Husband applies for DTV and I apply as a spouse. Once I’m approved, I submit another application for my child under my visa.
My concern is that we cannot submit an application for the child under his visa. Please help me understand if I may be missing something. Thank you!
I know the DTV is relatively new for this question, but just curious if anyone with DTV has thought about raising a family in Thailand or already gave birth to a kid here.
I know the elite visa is probably the best option, but I'm just wondering if it is possible to do this with DTV?
Basically, if two foreigners with DTV give birth to a child in Thailand, can the child stay with the parents on DTV?
My child is currently living in Thailand with a Non-O visa. Her passport will expire in May 2026, while her visa will expire on 28 January 2026. We plan to renew the visa around December 2025 or January 2026, but we will renew her passport around October/November 2025 before that. In this case, does the Non-O visa stamp need to be transferred to the new passport, or can we just keep it in the old passport and use both passports when applying for the extension?
Inside new passport, there is observation page that mentioned OLD passport information, does it enough to check old visa records for thai immigration?
Hi everyone, I wonder if you can help. I'm quite overwhelmed with trying to figure out which visa to apply for and how. I'm a low, well solo, income family with one teenager in tow. I think I'm looking at the DTV as a self-employed person, but I'm wondering what I have to do for my son. There doesn't seem to be a dependent's visa, or have I missed that? What would I need to apply for for him?
I would appreciate your advice regarding my upcoming Guardian Visa extension. I am currently on my first-year extension, and for last year’s application, I submitted a consular legalized birth certificate as proof of relationship.
Could you please confirm whether I can re-use the same document for this year’s extension, or if I need to obtain a newly consular legalized version? If so, how long such certified documents are considered valid.
