no there's where you're wrong, immigrations doesn't have to accept 'what ever the bank gives you', Immigrations TELLS you what you need and it's your job to get the bank to give you that documentation 🙁

The ONLY time I've seen people be able to use monthly income by international transfer method for their initial 90 day Non-O visa and then the first yearly extension from that visa were people who'd previously been on OA visa/extensions using monthly income and who'd bounced out to get OFF the OA extension, came back in free stamp, then immediately applied for the in country 90 day Non-O at their immigration office for 2000baht using the previous 12 months of incoming 65k baht transfers as proof of funds

Now I'm not saying it will work at your immigration office, they could very well require you to bank the 800k baht, all I am saying is going from OA extensions to a free stamp, then the Non-O in country seems to be a viable way to use monthly income by transfer for both the initial Non-O and then the subsequent yearly extension.

You would have to check with your immigration office well before you think you're going to attempt it, because they are the gate-keeperz for you, it's their call and there's not much you can do (other than bank the money) if they say no you can't do it the way I outlined.

I am only saying I have seen that scenario work out in person with people who came off OA extensions and went the in country Non-O visa/extension route at their immigration office

The rules spell it out pretty clearly, you need to have 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the yearly extension based on marriage to a thai.

The way the rules are written there is no obligation to keep any of that 400K in the account after you've applied for the extension, turned in your documentation, paid your 1900baht and gotten the under consideration stamp.

It does get a bit murky though 😮 While there is no rule about keeping the funds in during the 30 day under consideration period some offices will tell you to keep it in until you get the year extension inked in. But even with that once you have the year extension inked in you can drain the account right down to nothing if you wanted to

Yep there are several reports scattered around the inter-web where people said they couldn't get that "standard bank letter" issued
Tod *********
We have been getting more and more reports of this and there is no "understanding with immigrations" people have been turned away from getting their extensions for not having the "standard bank letter" (that's the one that is about 5 lines long, states your name, account number, passport number and the balance the date they wrote the letter).

You need to have the following to get a new year extension based on banked money method

- one year detail transaction report (Bangkok bank usually orders this and it takes 3-5 days to get for you)

- standard bank letter (which I explained in my earlier comment)

- updated bank book the date you apply for the extension (and copies of the relevant pages in it)

You don't mention what office you use (and there are over 80 in the country) but I'd sure go to your office well before you're applying for your next extension and hash it out with them that you can't get that "standard bank letter". As I said several people reported they couldn't get their extension until they actually got the bank to write that letter

ATTENTION EVERYONE; this is ONLY a Bangkok Bank policy, other banks are fine issuing everything you need to get your extension documentation wise

Oh and this is what the "standard" bank letter looks like (this was taken from a poster IN Bangkok Bank at Chaengwattana)

then as you can see you would get in on a 60 day visa exempt entry.

If your airline will let you fly without onward travel entering without a visa to thailand you're fine once you get here

And seeing as I believe the O/P has their answers, I would say we're done.

@Lynn ********
This ain't the thailand it was three years ago,

as I said,

once they went to 60 days they started getting really hard about letting people live here free stamp.

Still you have your visas, you only need 90 days, you'll be fine,

@Lynn ********
yep, sad to say in that case you did indeed spend money needlessly

You can get 60 day free stamp entry and one 30 day extension and that'll give you the 3 months you need

Best of luck with it, live in and learn, safe travels

@Lynn ********
You clearly haven't bounced out/back on free stamps recently 😮

Thousands of people are denied entry to thailand free stamp entry every week (especially after being here a while).

Immigrations takes a dim view of people "living here" on free stamps by bouncing out/back to milk another 60 day entry.

If you have a 6 month METV that is money well spent as you won't have issues exiting / re-entering during the validity of the visa
