their salary IF they were still employed would be okay to show for proof of funds to switch their extension from one based on employment to one based on marriage to a thai, BUT stopping working means it is highly unlikely that the immigration office would accept the previous 3 months of tax documents showing their salary, plus they wouldn't have their contract, work permit etc.

I think they can't DO the switch to an extension based on marriage to a thai using FORMER employment and would have to do it based on banked money method

You cancel your current extension of stay based on employment, then go to a thai consulate in a nearby country to apply for the Non-B visa with documentation from your new employer.

You are correct since Jan 1, all thai consulates in the world are eVisa, and you don't go to the consulate to apply for the visa, HOWEVER in Lao you DO go to the thai consulate after you've applied for the visa to pay for it in cash

You cannot apply for the eVisa when you're inside thailand <- you have to upload PROOF you're in the country whose thai consulate you're using (visa/entry stamp)

It is NOT a 10-15 day process ๐Ÿ˜• Many people have used both Vientiane and Savannakhet for regular visas (Non-B, Non-ED, Non-O) and gotten them approved about 24 hours after they went to the consulate to pay. So about 3 - 4 working days

You aren't going to be able to change the reason for your current extension to marriage to a thai without banking 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months, because to use employment inside thailand as the proof of funds you have to BE employed and you're not ๐Ÿ˜• You would have had to made this change months ago. <- meaning IF you wanted to cancel your current extension based on employment and immediately apply for a new extension based on marriage your only option is banked money method

No problem exiting thailand by land to GO to a consulate to buy a Non-B visa, You will have already cancelled your current extension anyway before you exit

Okay lets first get clear that you're not on ANY visa ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Because if you are still on the original 90 days of a Non-B visa, your ONLY option is to leave the country.

Now on the other hand if the stamp in your passport says "extension of stay" then what you're trying to do is cancel the extension from the office that issued it, make it down to the new immigration office and apply for a new extension with documentation from your new employer.

Now whether you can actually pull that off is totally dependent on you, your current employer, your current immigration office AND the new employer, new immigration office <- so a LOT of variables almost NONE of them in your control ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜•

Most people can't pull it off, then end up cancelling the extension they're on with their current employer at the immigration office where it was issued then border bouncing to get a free entry stamp and after that going to the new province and applying first for the in country 90 day Non-B visa and then after that the extension of stay.

2) - You wouldn't be getting ANY Non-O visa ๐Ÿ™ You would only be changing the reason for your extension from employment to marriage to a thai and you can use in country wages as proof of funds (you need 3 months of proof of salary, work permit, contract, tax paper, etc) <- but sadly you won't be employed any more when you apply to change the reason from an extension based on employment to one based on marriage to a thai (showing proof of funds via in country employment) ๐Ÿ™ So that's out

You would have wanted to do this several months ago not just when you're losing this current job and have no income from the new employer yet.

3) - doubtful you need to get a tourist visa from a thai consulate in a neighboring country because since july 15th 2024 over 90 countries can get a free 60 day entry (visa exempt) So just cancel your extension bounce out/back to get a free 60 day entry stamp and go from there

OR

4) - cancel your current extension, get documentation from your new employer, GO to a neighboring country (like Lao) and apply for the 90 day Non-B visa thru Vientiane or Savannakhet consulate online via the eVisa system. You would GO there, apply online, GO to the consulate in person to pay and then wait to get the eVisa approved. <- right now BOTH Vientiane and Savannakhet are pretty fast with "regular visas" (Non-B, Non-ED, Non-O) and once you pay in person at the consulate the visa is usually approved in under 24 hours. So I'd say you'd be in Lao probably 3 or 4 days.

there will also be kiosks at the airport in case people didn't fill out a TDAC in the 3 days before their arrival here

@Paul ******
remember MANY offices will not let you file a 90 day report if your extension is from out of province even IF you have a TM30 filed for that area. SOME make you go back to where you go the extension to file a 90 day report.

@Dale ****************
no idea but I'd imagine they'll have them at all international airports

We'll find out May 1st how it all works ๐Ÿ™‚

@Mark *******
you're asking questions BEFORE anyone has used the system yet..

Those are for people who weren't able to file a TDAC onlin with the website during the 3 days before they arrived here.

I think people will find out how it will work starting at 12:01AM on May 1st ๐Ÿ˜›
Tod *********
you do not, 100% no TDAC needed, you are arriving BEFORE it is required
