My first successful 180 day Visa renewal just completed. All I needed was Passport, copy of DTV and new arrival card (TM6) 👏👍👊FYI I also had copies of TM30, copy of lease, proof of funds in the bank and also proof of income over the last 3 months but was not asked for them. Winning!
Hi everyone! I know these things aren’t set in stone and could change at any time depending on what Thailand decides with DTV rules or visa checks, but I wanted to ask a couple of questions based on how things stand right now. I’ve searched the group but couldn’t find solid answers.
1. If I applied under the “soft power” category, is it possible to later change the reason (for example, to “workcation”) if the rules get stricter? Maybe through a 180-day in-country extension or reapplication?
2. Is there any noticeable difference between applying under “workcation” vs. “soft power” once you get the visa? Like, is the reason actually written on the visa or listed anywhere officially?
3. If I apply with “workcation” and get denied, would I be able to re‑apply using “soft power” right away? If so, could I re-apply at the same embassy?
I arrived in Thailand on a 3-month Non-O visa. After securing a lease and getting a letter from immigration, I was able to open a bank account. (Bangkok Bank refused me even with the immigration letter, but Kasikorn Bank accepted.)
Now I’m preparing to apply for a 1-year retirement visa. I have a few questions for those who have gone through this process, especially without using an agent:
1. Is medical insurance required for this visa?
2. How long do I need to wait after transferring the required funds before I can submit my application?
3. After the extension is granted, do I need to keep the full amount (or part of it) in the account, and if so, for how long?
I'm in Bangkok with a 3 month Non-O visa wanting to extend for retirement. I was getting my documents together and then checked the web and there is no mention of proof of condo rental or health insurance. What am I missing here?
Passport question: I will come to Hua Hin September 8th with a 90 day Non-Immigrant O Visa. Early December I will go to Immigration in Hua Hin to apply for a 1 year Non Immigrant O visa. I plan to leave Thailand early April 2026. However, my passport will expire July 17th 2026. Will this cause a problem, when I apply for the One year Non O Visa at Immigration in Hua Hin in December?
So don't be an idiot like me. I went to immigration only Koh Phangan to request a visa extension armed with all the documents, only to find out you now need an appointment! I had no idea. I am now going to Koh Samui for an appointment at 9:00 am tomorrow. No appointments available in Koh Phangan. They told me to go and do a visa run!
I want to change my O-A to an O visa. Is it important that I cancel my current visa Extension first or can I just bounce across a border, get a 60 visa exemption stamp and let my current Extension lapse?
