Thanks to everyone who has shared information in this group—it helped me resolve many issues during my application process. I also appreciate those who responded to my previous question here.
I applied for the DTV from Taipei, Taiwan. My first application was rejected due to a name error. On my second attempt, I was asked to provide additional documentation regarding my status as a freelancer, including a copy of my contract and proof of income/source of funds. I submitted the documents, and even though it was a Saturday night, I received my visa approval the following day.
After I was granted the DTV, my husband applied for his own DTV as the spouse of a DTV holder. According to the current rules, if your spouse has already obtained the DTV, you can apply for your own DTV based on that relationship. I submitted his application on May 7 around 11 AM, and he received his visa approval later that same day at around 6 PM.
For his application, I only submitted a bank statement under his name and a copy of my approved DTV visa. No other documents were requested. For his occupation, I selected “Retired.”
In my experience, the DTV application process is not particularly difficult or complicated. You just need to provide clear documentation that supports your identity and financial status.
Although many people online mention submitting detailed and extensive documents, I personally did not provide much, and nothing beyond what was specifically requested. I’m not sure if this is because I applied from Taiwan, but that was my experience.
I hope this helps others who are planning to apply for the DTV. Wishing you all a smooth application process.
Here is a laugh for you all as we approach the weekend. I know, opening up for the trolls, but as low as I now feel, it won't matter.
Had everything lined up for the DTV, waiting for stocks/investment release for the last piece of the jigsaw. Booked ready for the weekend in time for 30 day extension to finish. Email just arrived and due to various reasons the funds cannot be released for another year. I will have to reconsider my options
Good luck everyone. Maybe I will rejoin in a year... 😄 👋
Just got my Visa approved! It took many months as I originally had applied for LTR because I meet all the requirements but there was an issue with my employment situation regarding me being a contractor and my contracting company not willing to release financials, so I switched to DTV and the process took about a month. I used THAI VISA CENTRE - visa agent. After they submitted everything to the LA embassy I flew to Thailand and my visa was issued after about 15 days. Now all I have to do is fly out of Thailand to activate it.
Not specifically a visa question, but kinda related. My Thai wife and I (on DTV) visa are coming back to Thailand in a couple of weeks after being away for 20 years. We have probably 8 suitcases (maybe 150kg) of stuff that we are bringing with us, as we are going to mainly base ourselves in Thailand, as I'm close to retirement. Do we need a form to avoid paying duty? Nothing valuable really, just clothes, personal effects, but it all adds up. Mainly her stuff really.
Hi I only joined the group yesterday and haven't scrolled down too much due to work so apologies if this has been asked.
I'm 40 years old (almost)
My fiancee lives in Thailand and I want to move over ASAP (already started selling my belongings) as I am aiming for July/August.
What type of visa can I get or will I need. I plan on starting a business over there and I am open to the idea of getting a job online here that I can do from Thailand to help with cash flow and visa requirements.
Any help and advice would be massively appreciated.
I have got DTV visa since December 2024 and stay at Chiangmai over 5 months already. I have to extend/ renew another 180 days to stay at Thailand and I consider to go Tachileik which I have to cross border line to Myanmar and re-enter. So is there any one has experience for it and Thailand immigration at Tachileik border has capacity to extend visa for another 180 days by stamp in there? Would you please kindly advise?
Hello, as a company owner in Dubai, do i need a salary from my company. My company is not having buissness right now, somebody has experience with the dtv in dubai and could help with some infos..
I got my DTV yesterday in Laos. I applied as a freelance digital nomad. It was all quite straightforward. I went to the embassy to pay last Tuesday, then on Friday they notified me that I would be interviewed this Wednesday (Thursday and Monday were Thai public holidays, so that probably slowed things down). The interview was really quick, they just asked me to confirm what I do and asked to see my bank balance in the bank app on my phone. They also asked if I already rent a place in Thailand. About an hour later my visa was approved.
Before going to Laos, I paid a small fee to an agency in Bangkok that helped me make sure my application was strong enough and apply through the official website, but I still had to come here, pay and do the interview in person. I used the agency partly because I was unsure my application would be accepted, as I work freelance. The agency were very helpful and told me to provide examples of my work and a letter explaining what I do.
Today I entered Thailand overland from Laos. The border official didn't ask me a single question.
