I deleted some bad information on the thread and it also deleted some good information too. Sorry about that

this thread is comin' off the rails and it's turning more into a "visa fishing" thread <- what visa can we get 🙁 It's exactly why I wasn't going to let it on the group to begin with.

If it comes unstuck I'll close it, best of luck to the O/P

You're asking a question that no one can answer 🙁 the processing time varies by consulate.

Also it is controlled by how well you are at filling out and uploading the required documentation.

IF they have to ask for additional documentation it slows the processing time, if you get everything uploaded correctly when you apply it goes faster

I'd say depending on the consulate start the application a minimum of 4 weeks before you're planning to make your trip

BUT

take into consideration any holidays (when they don't process visa applications) and also check the posted processing time on the website of the thai consulate you're applying for the eVisa thru.

@Mart ****
You can apply for the OA visa at the thai consulate in your country before you come here, once you get that visa approved, you then apply for the 90 day Non-O visa for your wife using the proof you're married and the proof you have the OA visa issued already.

Then you both come here, you'll get stamped in for a year, and your wife will get stamped in for 90 days. When her stamp is running down you go to your immigration office and get her a matching extension stamp good until your entry stamp expiration date based on her being a trailing spouse of an OA visa holder.

your spouse doesn't need 800k she is getting the non-o visa based on the fact that you hold an OA.

You apply for both visas at the Thai Consulate in your country before you come here

I didn't say that at all 🙁

You're going to find a real tough time getting a bank account to bank the 800K baht required for going from a tourist visa to a 90 day Non-O in country. You're going to not be able to get your spouse a matching 'trailing spouse' Non-O

You would get the Non-OA and she'd get the Non-O, that will buy you both almost 2 years here.

as a rule if you qualify for the OX 10 year visa you might also qualify for the 10 year LTR (Long Term Residence) visa thru the Board of Investment website

That visa is worth it's weight in gold (y) 🙂 Look into it

There is no Non-O student visa 🙁 so I am guessing you mean a Non ED visa/extension

Unfortunately I've seen immigration offices do it BOTH ways, where the child getting the ED extension and the parent getting the guardian extension get under consideration stamps and then go back to the office 30 days later to get the year extensions inked in

AND

I've seen them issue both yearly extensions on the same day without an under consideration stamp.

So I think you're going to have to slog on out to your immigration office and find out what procedure they follow for ED and guardian extensions.

The good news is if they accept your documentation, take your 1900baht for the extensions you'll get them, as I have never seen an ED extension or guardian extension rejected after the under consideration period runs down.

If they're going to reject your application they'll do it right when you apply not wait a month to do it

There's no issue switching banks BUT I would move the money in 400K baht increments

I say that because the seasoning terms for banked money method are 800K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the extension, then you keep the 800K baht in the account for 3 months after the extension is granted and after that the balance can't go below 400K the rest of the year.. <- That's the reason I said move it in 400K increments.

That way you ALWAYS have the 400K required funds banked (in one bank or another). You could take out 400K go put it in the new account, then a few days later do it with the remaining 400K.

IF you switch bank accounts you will need DOUBLE the bank document requirements because you have to show the funds in the old account and the new account so you'd need two bank letters, two yearly detail transaction reports and to update the bank book of both accounts the day you applied for the extension.

The reason I say don't get the OX is that while it is indeed a 10 year visa, and you get a 5 year entry stamp when you come in, you will not be able to get an extension on it inside the country. <- There have been NO reports of anyone with an OX ever getting a 5 year extension issued inside the country since the visa was rolled out.

So if you're wanting to get that OX (which you show funds in your country to get) just know you're gonna get 5 years out of it and that's all.
