There are three things you need from the bank when you use "banked money method" for visa/extensions
** a detail transaction report
** a "standard" bank letter (which is like 5 lines says your name, your account number and the balance the day they wrote the letter)
** update your bank book on the date you apply for the Non-O visa/extension
It's that last one; update the bank book, that require many people to have a transaction the date you need the updated bank book. Because for many banks a bank book won't update with the current date unless there's a transaction done that date.
you don't need to do any transaction to get the bank to give you a detail transaction report OR the 'standard' bank letter, only when you update the bank book AND it also doesn't matter if the ending balance on the detail transaction report, the standard bank letter and the bank book don't match 😮 As long as you're over the threshold required (which for retirement visa/extension is 800K baht in the account) you're fine.
If you have a year extension and a valid re-entry permit there is no set amount of time you need to spend in country.
As long as you'd come back before your current extension/re-entry expires so you could apply for a new yearly extension you're fine to stay out as long as you want.
this is the back side of that transfer stamp form Chaengwattana uses
make sure you update your bank book the day you go to get the stamps transferred and have a copy of the data page of your bank book and the page showing the current balance
That "show bank book to move stamps" is a bangkok immigration policy only
the O/P has figured out that when you leave the country the 90 day count down clock stops and when you come back it's reset so that your next 90 day report is due 89 days from the date you stamped back IN to thailand (the day you stamp in is counted as day one 🙂 )
Best of luck to the O/P, sorry I deleted the comments that had nothing to do with the reason they couldn't do a 90 day report 🙂
The 2 visa exempt by land entry rule was rescinded on July 15th 2024 when they changed 30 day visa exempt for 55 countries to 60 day visa exempt for 90+ countries.
Now it's totally up to the discretion of the officer at passport control at the border. If they think you're trying to live here milking free stamp 60 day entry stamps, they can tell you that you can get out, but have to stay in the border country xxx days before you can come back OR they can tell you that you can get out, but you have to fly back.
Remember all the land borders with Cambodia are closed and the only Burma border open is the one in the south at the Ranong Pier with Kawthaung burma.
Now as far as proof of funds, proof of onward travel, and proof of lodging (which are all things you can be asked entering by any means visa exempt) that again is up to the guards manning the crossing you're using.
The 500K baht deposit is needed for a parent getting a Non-O visa based on supporting a foreign child enrolled in school here on an ED visa <- the guardian visa/extension
As you both already hold Non-B visa/extensions you wouldn't be applying for that "raise a foreign child visa/extension"
AFAIK, there is no actual posted proof of funds that you as a parent are required to show getting your child an ED visa thru a school.
The school will provide you with the documentation, and at most offices you can apply for the in country Non-ED 90 day visa when you have a minimum of 15 days left on the 60 day tourist visa / free entry stamp or a 30 day extension from one of those.. ..
Then once that initial 90 days of the Non-ED runs down you'd get more documentation from the school and apply for a yearly extension
