some offices do home visits some don't they'll tell you when you apply if they're going to do it or not

You should go to your immigration office an get the hand out listing the requirements for the year extension..

You'll apply and get a 30 day under consideration stamp, then go back after that runs down to get the year inked in

When you go back you're doing a completely different process (applying for a year extension)

You're going to need all the paperwork you used to apply for the 90 day non o, (copies of passport, marriage documents, wife's I/d, photos, lease, new bank letter, print out from the bank of the last 2 months statement, updated bank book, etc)

It's a whole new thing.. so requires all new paperwork

Colin Mcdougall keep in mind if you show up on a 90-day non-o you don't have a lot of time to get your ducks in a row and get the money in the bank because the funds have to be seasoned for 2 months before you can apply for the extension

so that gives you 30 days of that 90-day stamp that you get when you come in to find a bank bank the money and then let the funds sit for 2 months so you can apply for the extension

You can redact them as long as your name is there BUT if they need the copies with the account number they'll send you a request for more documentation. Some consulates are okay with you doing it and some are not

As far as once you get a 90 day Non-O visa, it's a single entry, you're stamped in for 90 days, if you need to leave/come back during that 90 days you'd buy a re-entry permit either at the immigration office where you live or at the airport when you fly out.

You can do it as much as you want (single re-entry is 1000baht multiple re-entry is 3800baht)

Remember though having a re-entry permit doesn't add time to your existing stamp, when you come back in you'd get stamped until the expiration of the original 90 day entry stamp

The reason you're having people (myself included 😉 ) ask over and over is;

Many, MANY people show up here, get stamped in 'free stamp' on a 60 day visa exempt entry and mistakenly think that is a "tourist visa" 😮

AND

while at most offices it won't matter if you want a 30 day extension on a free stamp or a real tourist visa entry (seeing as those are done at the same location

In Bangkok those extensions are done at two separate locations

free stamp extensions are done at IT Square

real tourist visa extensions are done at Chaengwattana

Granted those offices are only a couple KM apart but it can sure mess you up, if you show up, queue up and find out you're at the wrong office for the 30 day extension you want

Best of luck with it (y)

as you're here on a TR60 entry stamp so the main immigration office at Chaengwattana in Section J is where you go 🙂

You will need a TM30 (notification of foreigner) receipt showing you're registered as staying in bangkok.

@Annina ******
well as long as you're sure it's a TR60 you go to Chaengwattana 🙂

@Randy *******
they let you in the building at 5:30 am and that's when you can sit in the 200+ chairs they have running down next to immigrations

BUT

There usually aren't many people in Section J <- which is the section where they'd go if they're getting a 30 day extension on a tourist visa they bought before they showed up here.

I think they could show up at about 7;30-8 and be fine, without a super long queue in that section ONCE they open the immigration office doors as let the several hundred people in to the office
