Just wanted to share my failed experience of applying for an extension of stay. Tried applying in Chiang Mai today March 25th. Got rejected because Wise is not considered a real bank. Same goes for Revolut. You gotta provide a bank statement from a "real" bank is what I'm told. This + all the original docs you used to apply for the DTV + rental agreement here in Thailand + certificate of bank account ownership + proof that I've been paying rent here in Thailand.

Hope this helps!

Question for people who have applied for Soft Power in Hanoi in the past 2 weeks. Have any of you had any issues with your application? My partner's Soft Power Muay Thai application was rejected last week even though he fits all the criteria, there is no visible issue on the application form... all 100% correct. The Muay Thai gym he chose has had a number of successful DTV applications via Hanoi. No rejections.

He was and still is in Hanoi, in case that question comes up.

I'm trying to figure out what went wrong.

Paperwork provided:

* Bank statements showing 500k on a Thai Bank account since early Feb (he has been in Thailand on an ED visa which expired on 15 March. Application submitted on 16th March). Bank statements started on 1/10/25 so technically not full 6 months. I realised just now. He stopped using that bank account in Feb when he had the full 500k on the account. I'm wondering if that was the problem.

* Muay Thai Gym, which is registered with Thai Sports Authority and has an ID card to prove it. Full documents from the gym including proof of payment. I checked and the payment was made from a different bank account than the bank statements provided. Again wondering if this could have been the problem.

They didn't ask for any further documents. It went from Pending approval 1 day after submission, to rejected 2 days after submission.

When we called the embassy in Hanoi they were helpful and said there was a problem with those specific documents (bank statements and Muay Thai Gym documents) but they couldn't give any further information as to what was the problem with them exactly.

So I'm reaching out to see if anyone else has encountered a problem recently, that could be caused by a change in policy that I'm not aware of. Or if anyone can give me some insight and help figure out exactly what went wrong.

Hi everyone!😊

This group had been super helpful for me, so I wanted to share my DTV application experience and give some motivation because when applying for the visa I felt some anxiety after having read lots of negative experiences before applying and almost did not dare to try it. So if you resonate then this is for you:

I applied for my via when I was in Cambodia, Siem Reap. It took me around 2 weeks to get approval.

I have my own online business and had to explain (in 2-3 sentences) what exactly I am doing. I sent them my website, very easy.

My bank account statement was 500,000 baht for one day only. Before and after it was about 500$ less. I had to show my bank statements of 6 months, though.

At the border it was very easy and they were friendly as well. Officers at the border did not ask me anything and simply approved my entry and smiled at me. I felt that they were happy for me to be able to enter on this visa.

I hope this gives hope to others as well who are a bit afraid to try and apply since there are lots of negatives experiences described here. But I think that like with every "review sections" above all negative experiences are shared and those people who do not have application problems don't share that much about their process.

Wishing everybody good luck with their application!🙏

Seeking clarification -

When applying for the one year extension of stay based on the initial Non O retirement (90days) at counters L at CW - bangkok- we bring back the same lot of documents - housebook lease bank statement etc and get the passport stamped the same day or is there again a 15 days consideration period ?

Basically we get it the same day just planning one full day sitting there correct?

Hello

I have a DTV visa. When I applied I had 500,000 Baht in my personal account. Now I have a company in Hong Kong and I keep the money there. Will the company's bank statement be accepted for visa extension?

I’m looking for advice on applications through the Canberra (Australia) consulate.

I have tried ringing and emailing multiple times without a satisfactory answer.

I’m hoping someone here can help.

My husband wants to apply for DTV in May. We keep our savings in 3 different bank accounts in two different banks.

I was wondering if the Canberra consulate requires the 3-6 months bank statements to show that the 500k has been sitting in one account or if we can transfer the equivalent of 500k into one account and then just provide a proof of current balance for the day the application is submitted?

Also, as dependents, is a sponsorship letter for myself and my kids sufficient or do we need to show proof of additional funds in bank accounts?

Thanks so much 🙏

Hello everyone!

I am planning to apply for DTV visa from Vientiane at the end of the month.

I live in Bangkok and I will get a document from my bank about the amount I have ( more than 500k).

Do you think this is enough or they would ask for bank statement for the past 3 months?

Thanks is advance 🙏🏻

Friends, I have a bank statement from 10 days ago. Can I use it for the DTV application, or do I need a more recent one?

Has any U.S. Citizen that is *not* a resident or citizen in Australia applied from Australia? I knew someone (but she was an aus citizen) who said they only checked her bank account proof for day of but now im seeing it say 3 months of bank statements and 6 months of income statements. Maybe they’ve changed the policy since she applied last year though. I had been thinking about applying in Australia.
