Update :

Came back today (6 Apr) to bangkok. The immigration officer saw my reentry permit (I had ED before) and she asked if I want to use the DTV instead, I said yes and got the stamp. 🙏

Hii

I just received my DTV (soft power Muay Thai) from Hanoi in 3 business days.

30/03 : Submitted application :

- passport

- picture (taken by a professional 4.5x3.5)

- bank statements for February (two accounts with more than 500K in the main one, and around 300k in the second one) + letter explaining that I can use both accounts

- papers from the gym

- vietnam entry stamp

- hotel reservation

01/04 : Pending Approval

02/04 : Approved

This group helped me a lot so I want to share my experience.

Thank you and good luck to everyone..

🙏🙏🙏

Dear all,

For my DTV visa application, I submitted a letter from my bank stating that my funds exceed 500,000 baht. However, the Thai embassy has requested another bank statement and another letter confirming that my funds are still above 500,000 baht. I don’t understand why, as I have already provided this information.

What exactly should the bank write in the letter?

Does the bank statement need to be signed on every page?

The statement already shows that my funds exceed 500,000 baht. The bank has also officially confirmed this.

How should the bank statement be formatted to meet the embassy's requirements?

Thanks for your help!

Phuket Extension update (posting for science. I don’t care if you think flying out is easier):

Went with the wife and kids this morning to extend (DTV— Digital nomad / remote worker + follower). Did not receive it, but I’ll be going back in a few days. Here’s why—

What I brought (for me):

- Application, 4x6 photo, copy of TM30, passport copies, copy of 90 day notification, copy of lease agreement, proof of payment to landlord

- copy of bank statement (Jan. 26-Feb. 26) showing 500,000 THB (Chase Bank, $15,000+)

- screenshot of current balance

- Articles of Organization for (my own) LLC

- Annual report for LLC

- Document from IRS showing Employer Identification Number

- A copy of one of our digital products

- (self written) Letter of Authorization for remote work (from my own company)

For my wife:

- Application + photo + passport copies + 90 day notification copy

- Bank statement + current balance

- Copy of marriage certificate

- copy of lease agreement, TM30, payment

Outcome

The officer was very kind. He let me know that I truly had everything in order. However there were two problems:

1. The Remote Work Auth. letter was the same copy I used when I applied for the visa originally. It was dated September, 2024. He wanted a newer copy (presumably from 2025). Takeaway: you may need to request a new letter from your company.

2. He wanted to see a bank statement from the current month (truly the last 30 days), not simply my previous statement + current balance. Mine won’t be auto-generated for a few more days, hence the screenshot of current balance. He noticed that the screenshot showed (page 1 of 5). He wanted all 5 pages, not just the one with the balance on it. He was willing to take either what I had (with all 5 pages) or wait for the bank statement to come out. He said “bank statement is better.”

I plan to return after my statement is generated and I update the letter.

Further takeaways and clarifications

- it seems that the process goes like this:

— gather documents and get a queue number

— bring docs to counter for trainee to check

— trainee hands to officer for more detailed check while you wait a few minutes

— officer briefs you on what you still lack (if anything) before submitting, answering any questions

— once you have everything, they will submit for processing

— you come back after a few days after they’ve checked through the documents (even more!) thoroughly for stamp + pickup.

I didn’t have to pay anything today. I’m assuming that you’ll have to attach money to the application when you submit it, and then after a few days they’ll let you know if you were accepted or denied (potentially losing your fee). That’s only after a pre-check and one more thorough check by an officer who (seemed to) be really optimistic that I had everything in order.

The frustration is that this feels like I’m applying for the DTV all over again. I truly wish the requirements were unilaterally consistent and understandable across every immigration office throughout the country, because I think it would really save everyone (including staff) frustration. Ultimately, the staff and officers were very kind and helpful for the whole process.

Just wanted to share my failed experience of applying for an extension of stay. Tried applying in Chiang Mai today March 25th. Got rejected because Wise is not considered a real bank. Same goes for Revolut. You gotta provide a bank statement from a "real" bank is what I'm told. This + all the original docs you used to apply for the DTV + rental agreement here in Thailand + certificate of bank account ownership + proof that I've been paying rent here in Thailand.

Hope this helps!

EDIT: I successfully left the country and came back 3 days later. Upon reentry the immigration officer asked for proof of accommodation. Nothing else aside from the obvious (passport + printout of evisa).

Hi everyone!😊

This group had been super helpful for me, so I wanted to share my DTV application experience and give some motivation because when applying for the visa I felt some anxiety after having read lots of negative experiences before applying and almost did not dare to try it. So if you resonate then this is for you:

I applied for my via when I was in Cambodia, Siem Reap. It took me around 2 weeks to get approval.

I have my own online business and had to explain (in 2-3 sentences) what exactly I am doing. I sent them my website, very easy.

My bank account statement was 500,000 baht for one day only. Before and after it was about 500$ less. I had to show my bank statements of 6 months, though.

At the border it was very easy and they were friendly as well. Officers at the border did not ask me anything and simply approved my entry and smiled at me. I felt that they were happy for me to be able to enter on this visa.

I hope this gives hope to others as well who are a bit afraid to try and apply since there are lots of negatives experiences described here. But I think that like with every "review sections" above all negative experiences are shared and those people who do not have application problems don't share that much about their process.

Wishing everybody good luck with their application!🙏

Hello

I have a DTV visa. When I applied I had 500,000 Baht in my personal account. Now I have a company in Hong Kong and I keep the money there. Will the company's bank statement be accepted for visa extension?

I’m looking for advice on applications through the Canberra (Australia) consulate.

I have tried ringing and emailing multiple times without a satisfactory answer.

I’m hoping someone here can help.

My husband wants to apply for DTV in May. We keep our savings in 3 different bank accounts in two different banks.

I was wondering if the Canberra consulate requires the 3-6 months bank statements to show that the 500k has been sitting in one account or if we can transfer the equivalent of 500k into one account and then just provide a proof of current balance for the day the application is submitted?

Also, as dependents, is a sponsorship letter for myself and my kids sufficient or do we need to show proof of additional funds in bank accounts?

Thanks so much 🙏

Hello everyone!

I am planning to apply for DTV visa from Vientiane at the end of the month.

I live in Bangkok and I will get a document from my bank about the amount I have ( more than 500k).

Do you think this is enough or they would ask for bank statement for the past 3 months?

Thanks is advance 🙏🏻

Friends, I have a bank statement from 10 days ago. Can I use it for the DTV application, or do I need a more recent one?
