Good day everyone.

I've just been approved for a non o retirement visa. I applied in the UK. My Thai wife is with me. We are planning to return to Thailand late May.

What are the next steps I need to do to get the 12 months extension. Do I need to go to the British embassy? Do I need to get my passport translated?

Please explain to me in simple terms please. TIA

I made two posts about obtaining an O-visa and extention and in both I was shot down by a number of people whilst detailing my lived experiences. Thought I was being helpful telling the truth.

Well today I have my year extension and reentry permit. No serious issues and no expensive agents to circumnavigate or cheat the system .

Wish anyone doing the same well, do not be discourage.

I will however give you two pieces of advise:

1. Make sure any photo copies you present are clear

2. Make sure the last entry in your bank book is either a deposit, preferred or withdrawal on the day you submit it with the letter from the bank.

Hi, I’d like to share my first experience of getting my stay extended on Non-O visa here.

The instruction sheet says rather simply : copy of 2 pages of the passport、proof of 800k baht in a Thai bank.

On the application form : photo 、TM6 (the digital arrival card) are also required.

Other than everything mentioned above, I also brought in :

printed E-Visa,

printed digital arrival card,

TM30,

housing contract,

landlord’s ID, as the owner of the condo,

blue book, the house deed,

bank passbook with the latest update,

the official statement from my Thai bank with the stamp from the bank.

( K-Bank charges 100 baht for that )

However, I was still asked to return on the next day for :

the official letter from my Thai bank,

( again, 100 baht for that )

and again, bank passbook with an update on that same day.

drawing of a simple map to show what roads、landmarks are nearby.

Because of that, I overstayed for one day, there is no grace period and I paid 500 baht for that.

Either at the immigration office or at major airports, you will need to pay 1,000 baht for single return entry, or 3,800 baht for multiple entries.

Even though no written instructions show all documents mentioned above are required, they took in all !

I’m glad it’s taken care of, the staff was helpful、I didn’t have to leave the country for overstay、didn’t need an agent because I want to see how things process. 😃

What a relief, now I can travel to other countries at will and hence today, I bought this cute mug from IKEA for my celebration. ☕️🎉

~PS. Brandon, how many times can an expat extend his stay on Non-O !? 🤔🙏🏻

I bought a BTS day pass until midnight ; but could only use it on the dark green、light green lines. ( pink line to the Government Complex stop isn’t included )

Help. I hope somebody can give me an answer as to the best way to deal with this. I am moving in mid March to Jomtien Beach. I had already obtained a non-immigrant O visa for 90 days that I intended to activate when I arrived in March. Unfortunately, I came to Phuket for a music festival this month, which was not part of the original plan. They insisted that I start my 90 day visa now. It’s now going to expire in early April, which I think is going to be way too soon to get anything done in terms of extending it to the one year, which is the original plan. I have two options as far as I can see it. I can leave the country without getting a reentry permit which will void my current visa and then apply for a new one. What I’m concerned about is whether they will have an issue with me reapplying for a new non-immigrant O visa after allowing one to expire. The original visa was extremely easy to obtain, so if there is no issue with applying for a second one, that might be the easiest option. Alternatively, I can come back in March and hope that I can get an extension in the three weeks that will be remaining on the current visa. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful.

I’ve heard and read so many things about dtv. How long does the 15k need to be in my account and is there anything I need to consider coming from someone who’s recently gotten one.

Non O 90 days visa is it possible to get one once a year?

I am now on non O 1 year extension until September 26 2026.

After 3 months in Thai, on that extension, I do not really see why would I be in Thai for longer than that.

While on that Non O extension, I got my Yellow Book, Thai Pink ID (for foreigners), Thai Driving licence and Kasikorn bank account.

I own our condo in Bangkok, no rent. Never change my address, no new TM30.

The scenario would be: stay in Thai July-August-September (on the current Non O extension), return to Japan (where we own our condo) and come again (after that Non O exipres) for 60 days visa exempt (January-February).

Then, apply for another Non O to stay in Thai 90 days (July-August-September).

My wife, (local marriage in Thai) is Thai national.

Can I get a new Non -O every year, once per year , and then return after several months absence from Thai, on a 60 days exemption?

That way, I think, my 850K THB in my Kasikorn account could be used for daily expenses, might last for years. Not frozen with the bank and Immigration, while I do not want to be in Thai for the whole year.

We live in Japan, the place is as central as the Lumpini park in Bangkok, a desirable place to live at.

Hi all... A quick check-in on the Thailand Retirement Visa process (Non-Immigrant Visa Category “O” – Retirement Extension).

I entered Thailand in late November on a 90-day Non-Immigrant Visa Category “O”, with the intention of applying in-country for the one-year extension of stay based on retirement.

Completed so far:

* Opened a Thai bank account in my name

* Deposited 800,000 Thai Baht (treating the funds as frozen)

* In the process of completing residence registration (TM30 / address confirmation), including a notarized passport copy from my embassy and an official Thai translation (should be completed next week)

* My understanding is that Thai medical insurance is not required for an in-country retirement extension (please correct me if wrong)

* The two-month seasoning period for the 800,000 Thai Baht deposit will be reached in early February.

Questions:

* Is early February the correct time to go to the Immigration Office with the full set of required documents?

* Is this typically walk-in or appointment-based?

* I have read that the funds must remain untouched for three months after the retirement extension is granted — does this restriction affect my ability to leave Thailand during that period? I need to return to the United States in March for pre-existing obligations and requirements.

Thanks very much — appreciate any firsthand experience or recent confirmations 🙏 ~mb

Hi all. Getting conflicting information about how long the ฿800K needs to be in the bank before renewing retirement extension. Some say 3 months, some say 2. Will be apply for renewal in Phetchaburi province. Thanks. Would go and ask but I’m in another province for a bit. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
