Best option is for both the Multiple Entry Non Immigrant O visa, as for the Extension of Stay based on Thai Children you need to have parental rights from family court or Amphuer depending on age of the child.

Easier and more convenient is to apply before you even make your way into Thailand for the Single Entry Tourist Visa which gives you directly 60 days on entry and can be extended once at a local Immigration Office with another 30 days.

Apply for 2 Dec for the Single Entry Tourist Visa and get 60 days on entry and enter in March using the Visa Exempt Entry, no need to spent one day at Immigration Office.

And if you leave just and enter again just before or on the last day of validity of the visa you still get 60 days of stay and can be extended once with another 30 days which makes it possible to stay almost 9 months.

a Marriage visa is:

1. The 1 year Non Immigrant O visa based on marriage with Thai National

2. The Single Entry Non Immigrant O visa based on marriage with Thai National

3. Extension of Stay based on marriage with a Thai National.

Three different things but for easy of the person all named the same.
