Letters, posts, banners, pictures, translations of several people, some translate, some write their wish list.

Clear as mud, but after two press conferences it clears up.

just the three main points in non related order:

1. Those with permanent Residency, who are being abroad do not have to be back into Thailand within 1 year, they can stay till the situation is back to normal and keep their permanent residency

2. Those with a border/day pass (Laotians, Burmese, Cambodian workers) and are in Thailand can stay until 7 days after re-opening of the borders without fines.

3. Everybody whos Visa or Extension of Stay ends on or after 26 March 2020 gets automatic Extension until 30 April,

EDIT JUST to try to make it more easy:

Look in your passport if you have a stamp like:

Admitted Until 26/03/2020 OR

Extension of Stay permitted up to 26 Mar 2020 OR

Under Consideration 26 Mar 2020

Or a later date then 26 Mar 2020, Your time to stay is automatic extended until 30 April 2020

Before 30 April it will be announced or there will be an extra month or all goes back to normal and a period will be set to apply for new Extension of Stay or leave the country.without fines.

If you apply or leave after this period all normal rules and fines will be as normal.

This is how we as team see and read all these translations and press conferences.

We hope this make things a little more clear for you all.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Due to the ongoing situation, there have been several updates regarding visa stays and extensions in Thailand. 1. Permanent residents abroad are not required to return within one year to maintain their status. 2. Workers with border passes from Laos, Myanmar, or Cambodia can stay in Thailand until 7 days after the borders reopen without incurring fines. 3. Visas or extensions that expire on or after March 26, 2020, are automatically extended until April 30, 2020. Further clarifications mention that individuals holding various visa stamps are also affected by these changes.

Sorry if this was answered, im a little confused about what automatic extension means, just stamp and go? Wondering if my tourist visa that would have to be extended on April 13 will cost the normal 1900 or what to “expect”. Thank you

They know foreigners read slowly, that is why they already started to announce:

a period will be set to apply for new Extension

You do not have to come on day number 1 when all goes back to normal.

I’m outside Thailand, left early March for work. I have a Non-Imm O based on marriage. No extension of stay. Safe to assume my time is just ticking away? I’ll need to reapply for new in November? No clock stops for one month or however long this lasts? I hear tales of woe about people stuck in Thailand. I want nothing more than to come home.

At the moment no way to get back into Thailand. And you are correct the valid until day of your visa is getting closer and the clock does not get stopped.

Thank you!

So with a One-Year, Multi-Entry B, no work permit (as only consulting between US and Thld), and a 90-day re-entry stamp from KL ending on Apr 19, and the required border bounce not possible, has anything changed for me? Do I still need to go to Immigration asking for a 30-day extension with a Covid-19 emergency letter from US Consulate for 1,900B?

First we had people complaining, afraid of a virus, finding 1001 excuses of not to go to Immigration, and now it starts the opposite.

Immigration does give the automatic Extension and one after the other wants to visit immigration bureau.

Go, clean your hand with gel, have your face mask, be properly dressed, have all your documents in place and see how it goes.

Good luck, stay healthy and have fun.

my next visa ends on the 23rd of April. Could I go and get a 30 day extension with the letter from the embassy. extending my stay until the May 22nd.
James ********
@David *********
Up to you ...but I suggest you stay away. That is why the automatic extension was granted...due to COVID.

And Thai Immigration may say NO.

What’s permanent residency? Elite Visa ? I’m a non O. I know what’s going on just wanted to be clear as mud 555

people who have lived/worked legally in thailand for 3 years, paid taxes and met other requirements to file for permanent resident status (costs 191K baht if you're single and about 91K baht if you're married to a thai). They do NOT need a visa to be here, and can stay forever

BUT

they must physically set foot into thailand once a running year (a year from the date they last entered) and some people because you can't fly, can't get back in time so they had the rule waived to give them time to get back without losing their PR status
David *******
Any idea what the implication is for people "Under Consideration"? who applied for the covid extension with an embassy letter.
Tod *********
you're approved until April 30th automatically
Bernd ***********
I guess 2nd year on O-A visa ( attmitted of stay until.. ) covered as well.
Tod *********
BUT I freely admit I could be wrong and EVERY visa entry or visa exempt entry or visa waiver entry or extension COULD indeed be covered until the 30th, BUT I mean face it, if you have a year extension what is 21 days? It's chump change, just go get your extension like you're supposed to like you have for years and years, AND the upside is all the pesky tourists aren't there now because they took the free 21 days :P
Tod *********
NO I do not believe they are covered at all

they have a year entry stamp and if their stamp runs out now they get a year extension they are NOT on the "free extension until April 30th
Calum ******
What about the countries that were using "visa exempt" to enter the Kingdom, I have always understood that all these "extensions/waivers" were geared towards those tourists with actual physical visas.. the rest were basically told, sorry, but your best option is to go home ASAP.

Which many seemed to take offence over.
Tod *********
The 15 day Visa On Arrival (18 countries) and all those visa exempt entry types (14 day visa waiver (two countries), 30 day visa waiver (6 countries), 30 day visa exempt (51 countries), 90 day visa waiver (5 countries) are all listed in the rule

They're all extended until the 30th of April automatically
James ********
What about 90 day reports for extension of stay?
Rob ******
Extension of Stay for retirement

@Bernd **********
What do you mean 2nd year OA, ?
Robert *******

Not needed if your due date is after 26 March 2020.
Frank **************
Very good explained.
Henry *********
Thanks. Seems slightly different from how it was being reported this morning, especially in regard to Extensions and no fines.
