[Benjamin Hays]([members only]) Paul de Groote I can't think of a visa that fits..I think the only option is the elite visa or an investment visa (I think that's 10M thought).

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is seeking advice on the most suitable visa for their situation as a 48-year-old expatriate who works offshore two months on and one month off, planning to visit Thailand four to five times a year. Commenters suggest that the Elite Visa might be appropriate but too expensive, and mention that an investment visa requires a significant capital investment. They also advise that no visa may be necessary for frequent visits, provided the poster has sufficient cash and travel documentation, and they note that more options may open up once the poster reaches 50 years of age.

Next time in Thailand visit immigration explain your situation and ask what they can do to help you. Amazing the difference it makes asking rather than trying your luck with io.

They will do nothing to help him as he will not qualify for any visas ;) At least until he is 50.

I did want to add something else though. You have unlimited visa exampt by air, until immigration says no. When you are rejected at the airport, you will stay at the immigration detention center until you can get a flight to your country of passport.

he is not living full time inside Thailand, if he takes his sailor passport he can show that he works 2 months and is 1 month off, the chance of getting denied is much smaller than the one living in Chang Mai and working illegal at a Wellness centre

When you reach the 50 years you can think about the Non Immigrant O visa based on being over 50 years.

no visa, just keep on doing what you're doing. It sound strange but Immigration Officers are allowed to ask questions, they do not sit there to stamp passport as ordered by passport holder. Be always prepared with the 20.000 or equivalent currency in cash, proof of onward travel and proof of accommodation. Even your sailors passport could be handy to show you work 2 months and then 1 month off.
