Dear all,

Just think of this situation:

You just got stopped by Immigration and Immigration puts you in an enclosed environment. You still have battery left on your phone so you ask advice on this page.

Than you have to go trough mutliple comments about the rules are not fair, the law should change, why Immigration does this, Thailand depends on tourisme, it never happend to me and much more comments and replies. Than finally you find a comment that can help you and the phone dies, battery empty.

The people in these situations want help, not long discussions about the Thai Immigration Act. Think about this before you start a discussion., if you want to discuss Immigration rules start your own topic.

TLDR : Answer Summary
This discussion outlines the frustrations individuals face when dealing with Thai Immigration, particularly when they are detained and in need of immediate assistance. Participants emphasize the importance of keeping conversations focused on practical advice rather than engaging in off-topic discussions about the fairness of rules or personal anecdotes. Key points highlight the requirements for entering Thailand on a visa-exempt entry, including proof of funds, onward travel, and accommodation details.

And I think we're done with this topic too.

To sum it up;

the immigration rules are the immigration rules and whether you think they're fair or not matters not at all. They are what they are, deal with it.

Off topic comments on threads like those need constant monitoring by admins. If the admins are online at the time then, although it’s a bit time consuming, it can be done by admins deleting off topic comments. If they’re not online (admins have lives, other things to do) then things get out of hand quite quickly.

In some of the groups I admin for, people are quite responsible. In others, not so much.

I did not have a phone when I was almost deported at poi pet border, only a canon camera with me and 2k baht cash. But I able to fix the problem by complying the requirements. However, if I was held at the airport, surely I would end up in jail without my family knowing it.

Thank you for the report.

After I chose to comply the requirements, the I/O sent me back to Cambodia border so I walked back on the bridge. I looked for internet cafe, never found one, so I used online gaming computer to contact my bf in bkk to help me since it was his idea that I should do visa run there. I wrote him on my fb to book me plane tickets and send show money. He abled to book and I got printed booking. The next day, I got problem at Cambodia border because I needed cancellation of my departure date yesterday because I entered yesterday without passing again the immigration. Everything went complicated and can write a book about it. But I able to fix it and provided all requirements before 9 a.m the next day and the very nice I/O stamped my passport for entry.

I’m confused, how did you fix the problem exactly?

I am gonna ask people ONE time to stay ON topic and then start banning people.

This is NOT a discussion about being profiled in another country, it's not a discussion about something you heard from a friend who has a friend in immigrations it's about one thing.

A person trying to enter on a visa exempt entry (with possibly several other visa exempt entries under their belt already) got denied entry because they FAILED to meet the requirements, period end of story.

No matter what anyone thinks, ANYONE can be asked to meet the 3-proof-ofz when stamping into the country. Those are

proof of funds (20K baht or the equivalent in CASH)

proof of onward travel (within the period of time you're stamped in for)

proof of a hotel booking or confirmed lodging

Failing to meet ANY of those requirements if you're asked is grounds for denial of entry.

AND the immigration does have the ability to send you back to either where you came from OR to your country of passport origin.

For the last time keep this on topic.

That's not the case in Singapore. They will ask you to put all your belongings in the locker and you can only access it whenever you need something. Other than that no choice until you get your next flight out.

@Michael *******
yep. Always have an outbound ticket coz you'll never know when they do random check. Especially when they're trying to fill their qouta on the month of December.

Wow really? thanks.

I don’t have any issues with it . Except having to carry it in cash . I generally just carry cards

@Minez ******
and one last time I'll state the fact that you or another Auzzie you know has entered thailand more times than you can count without being asked for proof of funds does NOT mean that everyone gets thru without being asked.

STOP being obtuse, stop thinking auzzies have some special pull when they stamp into the country <- they don't :/

They have just as much of a chance of being asked for the 3-proof-ofz as any nationality. That you weren't is just blind luck.

@Mi***
there was an Australian guy denied entry on this group only yesterday. It happens to people with extensive history of living here on tourist entries, whatever their passport.
Tod *********
@Terary *********
, but I see that you still fail to heed the "stop lipping off with stupid comments about how the group is run" warning you were given. :O
Terary **********
@Minez ******
Careful.. I was scolded on this forum for racial profiling because I asked about the passport a person had. I did point out that race and nationality are two different things.. Then I was threatened to be kicked of the site.

@Tod ********
I’m Australian so I’d prob get away with it . Never heard it happening to an Aussie tbh

You need to calm down you aren’t Thai immigration 😂🤷🏽‍♀️🙈
Tod *********
and IF you were ever asked for proof of funds you'd be stuck because they only accept CASH.

@ Robert Lagas I told you so doesn’t help in such a situation. Thank you for pointing that out again.

You can charge your phone in that room whatever they call it. At least that at 700 baht a night.

I have a power block with a 10,000 mAh storage rate, and just purchased a note 9 with a 4000mAh battery
