Asked in another topic:

[Ray Derrick]([members only]) [Robert Lagas]([members only]) We have a very similar situation, although I managed to get an extension until 1/02/2020. If I asked you for advice on what I should do (in 2020) based on your own experience... What would be your advice? I will not meet the financial requirements next year...I have a Thai family to support...Do I go out and try to come back on Tourist visa / Visa exempt? Or what? My local immigration office told me "Say bye bye Thailand" I would lose everything I have! What would you suggest I can do?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on how to navigate their immigration status in Thailand now that they won't meet financial requirements for a visa extension. Community responses suggest options such as getting married to a Thai national to qualify for a NON-O visa based on marriage, which doesn't require financial proof if obtained through certain locations, and conducting border runs to maintain residency.

If you are married, you can get the 1 year Non Immigrant O visa based on marriage to a Thai National without any financial requirements at Savannakhet Laos or HCMC Vietnam. With this visa you have to make border runs every 90 days, if you make a border run just before the valid until date, you get 15 months of stay out of this visa and you can extend this last stay with another 60 days on basis of visiting your family at Immigration.

Official the combination method is till there, the lowest monthly income is multiplied by 12 and that amount is added with the balance on the bank. The balance of the bank must be there at least 2 months prior till at least 3 months after application date and the rest of the year not less than halve the amount. But yes, I agree, I read stories of Immigration Offices that they refused this option.

Thank you for your advice.. The loss of the combination of income + bank balance is what has caused my problems. I have 10 months to try and solve what to do.

To be honest you don't have that much options. I know it sounds like the Immigration Officer and it is something that you do not want to hear. But to live inside Thailand there are since many years financial requirements, the one based of being over 50 years of age is from 1998. You can do the visa exempt entries and the tourist visa, but that means a lot of border runs and as you can read on several forums, there is a time you get stopped and asked. Only alternative I see, as you mentioned your health, get a declaration from you doctor that you're not able to travel and get Extension of Stay based on medical reasons, but if that will help you in the longer term I do not know.

what are my options if I don't get married? I'm reclusive, have poor health, and really not up to visa runs & border bounces.

Get married, go to Savannahket, I don't think they ask much.

You do not meet the financial requirements for the Extension of Stay based on being over 50 years of age OR based on being married to a Thai National?

Over 50. I was considering getting married, but I have already defaulted on the 12 months of 40,000 monthly income ....I thought it was an 'average' of 40,000 per month, I transferred 76,000 in January but only 26,000 in February. I know the IO will say 'No good' ...I'm not going to get married and then have my extension denied. I don't want to live with 'Will they approve, won't they approve' at the discretion of an IO, for the next 10 months. It's all vey stressful.
