TLDR : Answer Summary
A recent discussion highlights the enforcement of a rule at the Sa Kaeo border checkpoint, which requires travelers to stay a minimum of one night in Cambodia before re-entering Thailand. Previously, this rule was not strictly enforced, and many would cross and return the same day. However, travelers are now experiencing issues, including fees and refusals at the border. Participants shared experiences, noting changes in procedures, and emphasized the importance of being aware of current regulations when planning border trips.

It appears that Sa Kaeo has over FORTY border crossings :O

Only 3 which are open to foreigners, Ban Laem, Aranyaprathet and Ban Khao Din.

Moral of the story, ANYONE thinking to border bounce with Cambodia needs to keep in mind they have had a rule that you must stay in cambodia for 24 hours for a LONG time now although they never enforced it

However they seem to be enforcing it.

Plan accordingly :)

So it would be nice that if you have a problem at the border, that at least you get and write down to help us to find to correct location by latitude and longitude. Some additional pictures will also be nice, if you are in the mood to do all this if you are refused entry.

Can you show us your the STAMP in your passport so we know the name of the crossing?

i just googled for it . . . so called "Sa Keo" border is identical with the Poipet/Aranyanphratet border . . if you google it. Maybe the Sa Keo Battambang is not uzp to date in google , yet

:O What border crossing is he referring to ?

Is it the brand new one in Sa Kaeo?

OR is it Aranyaprathet or Ban Laem?

They are all three in Sa Kaeo Province ;)

If it's that new border

Gregor **********
Ban Laem is further south
Gregor **********
he means Aranyaprathet . . it is called Sa Keo by some, because it is the province Sa Keo

Okay friends, here the translation of Marc his experience. He had a Visa Exempt Entry when he arrived in Thailand, got the 30 day Extension of Stay and wanted a new Extension of Stay so he went with his wife to Sa Kaeo, Cambodian border. No problems for him to leave Thailand and enter Cambodia, his wife waited inside Thailand. On leaving Cambodian Immigration start making problem, he called his wife who came over to help. After small debate he could leave Cambodia for a fee of 10.000 Thb. He refused. His wife stamped out Thailand, stamped in Cambodia and they stayed overnigh in a luxury hotel in the area for 1.500 Thb. Next morning both get stamped out Cambodia without problems and entered Thailand without problems. He was not alone at the border, more tourist had the same problem, one man even get totally refused and had to go to the airport to book a flight home.

@Robert ******
10k? That's not a legal requirement enforced by Cambodian immigration to leave the country without staying overnight. There is a 300bt 'leaving fee' payable to Cambodian immigration at Chong Chom and Chong Sangam whether you stay overnight or not. Sounds best to avoid that crossing, plenty of other border crossing what with Thailand bordering 4 countries.

Me never go back there again if I must drive car to Chiang rai me do even border to Kachanaburi

Can you show us your the STAMP in your passport so we know the name of the crossing?

Never known anyone having to stay one night in Cambodia when using Chong Chom or Chong Sagnam crossings, myself included.

Yes. No more of that extra payment now being split between Thai and Cambodian immigration.

The tip box has been closed and locked.

The rules will now be enforced
Robert ********
Clearly changes are on the horizon and this is just the beginning.
Ron *******
Robert A. Piccus just an opinion regarding the ever on going rule of financial requirements being looked at constantly everywhere. On that basis, it can't continue.
