After browsing the UK Thai Embassy website it seems a METV is the visa I’m looking for.
However I couldn’t seem to see the fee amount for this visa.
If anyone knows the price I’d be really grateful 🙏🏼
Oh and am I correct in thinking I’ll have to leave and return into Thailand after 60 days? Or is it 90 days? And then granted another 60/90 days on my return?
Hi, I applied last week for an METV from UK which has been approved and issued today ( only took 3 days) I am not arriving until 8 June (which my documents showed that were submitted) however my Visa states valid from 24 March until 19 September 25.
Does the Visa mean I have between the dates to arrive in Thailand and my Visa will be ‘active’ from the arrival stamp date and I can travel in and out of Thailand as a tourist for 6 months from that arrival date (8 June) or does it mean it’s ‘active’ from today until September?
I read someone recently was held up at customs on entry into Thailand with a METV and I wanted to make sure I have all my bases covered.
For a METV when you enter Thailand what date should you have the ticket to show you are leaving Thailand?
Last time I had a METV I just had a ticket for my departure 7 months later at the end of the my visa stay.
When I flew out twice to reset my visa I bought my ticket after each time I had entered Thailand for the next flight to KL from Phuket.
They never asked me for a flight out the first time I entered back into Thailand but the second time they did.
On reflection the departure flight should probably should be either within 60 days or 90 days if you plan on getting extension of your entry into Thailand to be correct.
Do you have to have 20,000 baht cash with you or can you should customs on a bank account app?
And I understand you need to have proof of paid accommodation.
Hello, I have saved a few posts about switching from a METV to DTV but when I check back they've been deleted. I apologize if this answer has already been asked and answered elsewhere.
I have seen mixed reports about applying for the DTV while being on a METV. Is it actually possible to cancel a METV if the embassy asks? Specifically, does Hanoi require this before issuing a DTV? I currently have a METV that does not expire until July 2025 but would like to apply for the DTV in April if it is possible. Thank you 🙏
I am looking to stay in Thailand for about 8 months. I'm fine with flying in and out of the country for renewals and such. I also would like to learn some Thai, what visa would you suggest?
Will be retiring soon and thinking about spending just under 6 months a year in Thailand. Wondering what the best options are in regards to the best visa for 6 months each year. Many thanks in advance for your advice.
My case is a bit unusual, as I had an active METV issued by the Chicago embassy in early November (valid until early May). I was a bit worried after reading some posts here that stated I couldn't have two visas active at the same time, but in November had entered Thailand with both a single entry and multiple entry tourist visa. Upon arrival at BKK, the immigration officer simply asked which one I wanted to use. I'm assuming he canceled the single entry visa after I told him I wanted to use the METV. Because of this and reports from others that their applications were not denied, but basically postponed due to existing METVs, I decided to give the DTV application a shot.
I still have no idea why I was approved despite others with active METVs being told they have to wait for theirs to expire.
Details:
Applied 6/1/25 from Da Nang via HCMC Embassy. Soft Power route with Botany/Cooking seminars from Discover Thai Nature. 5 years of monthly seminars for $9999 baht.
In addition to filling out a flight date/number and my Da Nang hotel address on the short-form page, I submitted the following documents with my application:
* Passport data/photo page
* Photo taken in Da Nang 5 months ago (used on previous visa applications)
* Current checking account statement (dated 2/1/25) from US-based bank showing around $19,000.
* Documents sent to me by Discover Thai Nature - letter of invitation, confirmation of enrollment, payment and participation, business registration documents
* Photo of my Vietnam entry stamp
On Thurs, 9/1, I received a request for extra documents (see photo).
This time I submitted:
* Merged PDFs of one of my brokerage accounts and two checking accounts, all of which showed 6 months of financial activity. I used [members only] to merge documents on PC.
* A new photo taken 10/1 in Da Nang (total cost was 40,000 VND or around US$2 for picture and JPEG sent to my email).
* Merged PDFs of my hotel confirmations in Da Nang, matching the address I submitted on the short form page.
* The same documents submitted initially from Discover Thai Nature, but this time with a cover letter stating my intent to attend seminars and a description/explanation of the other documents I was submitting. I also stated that I intend to participate in professional cooking classes with Bangkok Thai Cooking Academy later this year, but hadn't yet enrolled (I fully plan on taking their four-week course).
I received my approval e-mail at around 1:30 PM today. I plan on staying in Vietnam until mid-February but will update on whether or not there are issues with immigration and my two active visas (I don't expect there will be) when I fly back to Bangkok.
