And again big discussion about the report of address with the TM30 form.

Dear members, it is so easy to follow the rules of your Immigration office, yes this is Thailand and new computer systems are implemented at several offices and yes that means training and staff to work with those systems,. And yes not all immigration offices has the time or staff to train and enforce this rule. Please commenting on a post like: I never did or I don't know or I paid fines does not make it clear.

The only thing that makes it easy for you ALL, contact your local Immigration Office and ASK, they don't kill you if if you ask information, but they provide the information and most of the time they are happy that YOU as foreigner want to stay inside Thailand within the rules.

Play their game and have a happy live, do what ever you like and pay fines. Remember that we all guest in this beautiful country and with playing their games we win more respect that just crying out loud: I did not know.

Enjoy your stay.

TLDR : Answer Summary
This discussion addresses the challenges and regulations concerning the TM30 form within the Thai immigration system. It emphasizes the importance of adhering to local immigration rules, encourages expats to seek information from their local immigration offices, and highlights various experiences with immigration staff. While some expats report positive interactions, others mention inconsistencies and frustrations with varying interpretations of rules. The conversation indicates a desire for better communication and understanding between expats and immigration officers while navigating visa issues.

Exactly some of the abuse that IMM offices get is brought upon themselves directly due to disorganization, poor planning, inaccurate and ever changing information. However there is not need to be rude and disrespectful to the Officers due to the problems with the system. I always try to speak nicely no matter how much they test me, no matter what they mess up, no matter how many rules change, no matter if one day the rule is set and then the next week with a different person the rule is different. After all TIT Thailand it is not going to change. The issues experienced with immigration are small and over shadowed by the good points of living in Thailand.

Last time i was at the office by the airport the miserable head top old dog officer in charge of dealing with westerners spoke NO english.

Fortunately the Promenada location seems to be improving.

15 years living here and helping others with their Visa, Extensions or other Immigration rules. Every time I visit Immigration I see and hear foreigners complaining about inconsistency, new or changed rules and attitude of the officers after they are sent out to make the needed copies as required to get the stamps they need. Those who has all the papers or are polite and leave to get the missing papers, don't complain. I've seen foreigners trowing their passport on a desk and yelling give me 1 year, I've seen foreigners asking: "Who do you think you are to arrest me for overstay?", a foreigner raised his voice in discussion "I tell you that is my address and you have to listen to me and give me the stamp now" and I still wonder how these Immigration Officers go on with helping the next one with a smile. And after I asked, Immigration tells with a smile: "We have a few of those people every day".

In the same Chiang Mai Condo for 8 years suddenly having to pay a 1600 baht fine for not filing a form that was never before requested (TM30) was not the fairest, they could have had a notice/anmesty period but my arttitude is OK No Problem Khrap. Now almost every time I go in there now there is some old coot making a fuss.

Well said mate. It astounds me the arrogance of some foreigners here. I'm white so I am better that you.....I mean seriously.

I've always had the documents I needed. One time I forgot a copy and they asked me to get and they braced for a farang special but I was ok krub and they just smiled and said thanks. Treat them with respect and they are nice and respectful back. Samw goes to the airport immigration staff.

This is common decent you'd extend in your own country, quite why people don't do it here I will never understand.

Dreamer. Its the inconsistency, attitude and don't care attitude that makes them ....well.....unloved.

I wouldn't say it is simple at all when it comes to TM30 and many other visa issues. Each day is different and the rules are often interpreted differently. One day they will fine you and the next day they won't. One day they will give you information and then next time you ask, the information given is different. So yes asking at the Imm office is good, but first hand and recent information is always better. Example, Landlords are responsible so the Tenant should not be fined....and yet the Tenants are regularly fined. A prime example of when the information given does match what actually happens.
