TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses recent police operations in Thailand aimed at enforcing visa compliance among foreign nationals. Several comments share personal experiences with police checks and emphasize the importance of keeping visas valid to avoid problems with immigration. The community seems concerned about the focus on overstayers while also discussing incidents involving aggressive behavior from locals.

slowly the thai bashers take over every thai related page!
This is why Immigration doesn't seem to really get mad if someone comes in and out of Thailand and getting new Visas because at least they see you as a good person, following rules, show proof of funds and they'll gladly give you permission to stay in Thailand. It's these guys who hide out and overstay their Visas is who the Immigration officers are after. I think as long as you don't overstay your Visa, they'll be nice to you.

"To date, 1,407 foreign suspects have been arrested at 3,716 locations across the country." - the math seems odd.

Robert Lagas the English makes it sound like each suspect would have had to be arrested at two locations. Your rephrasing makes it clearer. ๐

Just report the ladyboys, with more arrests of people for overstay or illegal entry, the police will be thankful to you.
