As application for a new visa has not much to do with a report about entry at Phuket airport, I move the question:

Seni Triller can anybody tell me , when I want to make OA visa in Germany and I only want to stay 8 month in Thailand do I need health insurance for 365 days or only for 8 month? Thanks😍

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for an O-A visa in Germany, you must provide health insurance that covers the entire 12-month validity of the visa, regardless of your actual stay of only 8 months. The Thai Embassy in Berlin specifies that the health insurance must cover the entire duration of the visa.

is right: the Berlin embassy hands out O/A visa with the "common" validity of 12 months. And so the health insurance has to cover the 12 months. They do not care about how long you want to stay within the the admitted 12 months. If you only plan an 8 month stay, this is totally up to you, but for the application of the O/A you need proof of an insurance that covers one year. Visa are not subject of a lottery system or like a game of Bingo or on Santa's wish list. They are handed out once the requirements are fulfilled

. .so

had the perfect solution for you: apply for the Multi Entry Tourist Visa. It gives you 3 times 60 days of stay and if you plan your last exit and re-entry right, you can get 8 months out of it. In case you are short of a few days or a week, you can then still do an exit & re-entry and obtain a 30 day visa exempt so that brings you to a total of 9 months

😍 thanks this was the answer I needed😍

Seni why not obtain the METV rather than the O-A ?

Much simpler and no health insurance required for it. And with planning will give you 6-9 months in Thailand.

TOURIST VISA M: (60-Tage-Aufenthalt pro Einreise, Gültigkeit 6 Monate, mehrfache Einreise)

thanks😍 think this will from now on the best visa for me... because only stay 8 month in Thailand. the last 5 years I had . OA ...

Then that is an exception not seen before anywhere

Do they issue an 8 month visa? I doubt it. If your oa visa is issued for 12 months then you will need the equivalent length of insurance

@James *******
then maybe they only issue the visa with a validity date of the period of insurance? On the other hand, how would you buy health insurance for say 4 months? You certainly wouldn't be able to purchase it in the UK

And the Thai Embassy in Berlin mention it very nice on their website, insurance only needed: Health insurance must cover the entire length of stay in Thailand

You need 12 months insurance to even get the visa unless Germany have some special deal on in the January sales of cut price 8 month O-A visas

It must be a ONE year policy to obtain the O-A visa.
