ORIGINAL POSTER
Police Order 548/2562.

Effective 31 Oct 2019.

Subject:

Health insurance for Non Immigrant O-A visa

Extension of Stay following this Non Imigrant O-A visa

Using this visa at entry inside Thailand.

It is discussed over and over again on this page, but with most of the reports people start the same discussions again and again.

It seems some computers do have more functions than others, so not all of you are able to read the Police order at their website:

It also seems not very easy to download the complete version starting with the Thai text on website:

TLDR : Answer Summary
Effective from October 31, 2019, a Police Order mandates health insurance for those holding a Non Immigrant O-A visa in Thailand. Despite the clarity of this order, enforcement appears inconsistent, leading to varying experiences among entrants regarding health insurance checks. Those applying for extensions must ensure their insurance policy dates align with the extension period.

We did our extension today. The insurance policy dates have to match up to your new extension dates.

I thought that it was the new extension end dates had to match up with the insurance policy end dates. That was my case.

I think it is NOT that people aren't aware of the rule, AND not that people aren't able to read and understand the rule BUT it's the fact that there is no uniform enforcement OF the rule.

Many many people entered after this rule change on visas they got BEFORE the rule came into effect and were stamped in without even being asked OR if they were asked they said they didn't need it because their visa was issued before the rule came into effect and they were stamped in for a year.

In fact only a very FEW people seem to have been asked for proof of insurance, didn't have it and ended up getting 30 day visa exempt entry stamps instead.
