I have a question on this renewal after 1 year as to space in passport. Once the wp is extended and you go to immigration, is the extension just 'extended' again (a date change notation only) or is it a whole new NonB that will be extended again (2 pages in passport). I have heard it is a date change, but want to be sure as my passport is getting full.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The extension process for a Work Permit (WP) in Thailand involves going to the Ministry of Labor for new dates in the WP without needing additional passport pages, while the Extension of Stay at the Immigration Office will result in a new stamp in the passport but does not constitute a new Non-B visa.

Two different things, You go for the Extension of the WP to the Ministry of Labor and in your WP you get new dates. For an Extension of Stay you visit Immigration Office and that will be a new Extension of Stay stamp, this is not a new Non Immigrant B visa.

, unless you 'break the chain' of yearly extensions of stays (which means you'd get a new Non-B and start over) you can get extensions year after year for a LONG time. I know people who have worked for the same company for 10+ years and they just get a new yearly extension added to the expiration date of their current extension

Thanks - so presumably some people have multiple extensions on that same old original Nom-B.

Yes, only a new Extension of Stay stamp. And if you need you can buy a new re-entry permit stamp.

Yes, I was not speaking to the WP process. To clarify, upon your second year of stay, it is not a new Non-immigrant B, but just a 'second' extension of stay stamp???
