TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around Nick Shaw's inquiry about applying for a 90-day visa upon his arrival from China, as he has been married to his Thai wife for 10 years. Community members suggest that a year-long, multiple-entry Non-O visa based on his marriage would be more suitable for his circumstances, especially if he has a consistent travel history to Thailand. The minimal documentation required includes a marriage certificate, household registration (tabian baan), and his wife's ID copy. Members also advise checking with Thai consulates in nearby countries for ease of application, as applying for a Non-O visa from within Thailand requires staying a minimum of 15 to 21 days.

@Tod ********
i never knew that very useful information.

at the consulates I mentioned, that's the requirements (except in Ho Chi Minh & Seoul you need a letter written by your wife asking for them to issue you the visa too).

Nick, as
@Rob***
, pointed out; given your travel history to/from thailand, a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa would be the best "fit" for you.

If you can't get one from the thai consulates in China, you can get one easily from the Thai consulates in Savannakhet Lao, Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam and Seoul South Korea with minimal documentation and no need to show proof of funds.

Seeing you're only short time in Thailand, and longer in China I think the best option is to apply for the multiple entry 1 year Non Immigrant O visa based on marriage to Thai National in the Thai Embassy or Consulate in China.

If you like to apply for the Non Immigrant O visa inside Thailand you need 15 or some offices 21 days of stay left, and after this period you can pick up the Visa. This visa gives you 90 days of stay, after 60 days you can apply for an Extension of Stay but that will also goes 30 days under consideration before it get stamped in your passport.
