Depends on what you want, if you entered using a Single Entry Non Immigrant B visa and got 90 days and leaving within these 90 days, you void your stay and can come back using another visa or depending on passport a Visa Exempt Entry or Visa Waiver.

But if you are working in Thailand you need to keep your stay alive as described by Ellie.

Sorry but you can not renew any visa.

Seeing the dates I guess you have a 1 year Extension of Stay and you can apply for a new 1 year during the last 45 days.

Strange idea, but why not apply before travel for the Non Immigrant O visa based on being married to a Thai National, get 90 days on entry and apply after 45 days for the 1 year Extension of Stay.

Non O based on Retirement Visa is actually according the correct terms:

a Non-Immigrant O (other) Visa based on being over 50 years of age and gives you a stay of 90 days inside Thailand, but populair named retirement visa.

During these 90 days you can apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay at a local Immigration Office based on being over 50 years of age and willing to sit out the rest of your life inside Thailand, populair called retirement visa.

The person goes with the new passport and the letter of replacement from the Embassy to the Immigration in Bangkok and ask if a new Admitted until stamp can be placed in the passport.

There is no such thing as a 2 months tourist visa stamp.

As long as she brings all this, she can buy the Visa On Arrival

Or on the other hand, IF you are on an entry non B visa for 90 days, you cannot apply for a retirement extension directly, You have to leave Thailand and apply at a Thai Embassy/Consulate for the Non Immirgant O visa based on being over 50 years of age, get 90 days on entry and apply after 45 days for the 1 year Extension of Stay, but be aware the 800.000 Thb needs to be at least 2 months prior application date in a bank account on your name.

No need to worry, if you leave without a re-entry permit the Extension of Stay is void and you need a new visa to enter Thailand if you do not want to go visa exempt.

I guess things got mixed up with translations, as you can not change an Extension of Stay based on marriage into a new type of visa.

And that is the reason that he told you to apply at a Thai Consulate and the Extension of Stay ends if there is no re-entry permit at leaving the country.
