I am an American and have had a retirement visa for 3 years. I am actually retired but tired of going back to immigration every year. I have no issues with leaving the country once a year. I am retired but have no issues with taking a cooking class if required.
Hi. I'm looking at getting my DTV in Australia. if I just do a short cooking course does that grant the full 5 years? the other thing I was looking at was the 5 year Thai fruits and herbs lectures. any suggestions?
An update for those following the Bangkok Bank debacle.
Yesterday after 31 days of my account being frozen, I made my fourth trip back to the bank and they said they were unlocking the account and I then withdrew the funds and closed the account.
I asked the bank manager and the assistant manager why they had frozen my account. They responded, "we don't know". I asked them if they were personally okay with having their own banking account frozen for 30 days with no notice or explanation. They shrugged and avoided the question and moved on to the next customer.
My experience with Bangkok Bank has been nothing but miserable and alarming. Locking up a customers account and telling them they have 30 days advance notice but in fact had zero notice before locking the account then later providing no explanation why the account is locked breeds uncertainty, insecurity, massive inconvenience for daily living and distrust of the Thai banking system. This is a slap in the face to customers who depend on having access to the funds they entrust to the bank for safe keeping. Don't say you weren't warned about this unethical bank. I'll never go back again.
Is there any bank that allows farongs to open an account over the internet or phone that allows international transfers? Or will i need to wait until I visit?
it doesnt matter what size your print your DTV : A4 or compact passport size like me 😆. when it printed, it would help the immigratipn staff to recognize and check into the system. Some people dont print it out also no problem. As long as you got your DTV and welcome to Thailand, buddy! 😍🇹🇭
Arrived at Bangkok airport from Vietnam, already have a DTV but my first exit and re entry.
Didn’t need anything other than my passport as the DTV and TDAC is logged under the passport. I did have them available but was told they weren’t necessary (despite the signs stating to have them ready).
I was informed (by the immigration police lady) to always check the passport stamp for the re-entry date on the DTV’s as mistakes have been made (by immigration). Once you leave the airport it can be difficult if there’s is a mistake.
Her colleague on the next desk came over to see my passport and whatever it was they had visibility to on their screens as she had never had a DTV traveller herself and wanted to see.
I’d like to know if there’s any one in this group who have try to do a second DTV after the first one was cancelled? Is it even possible ? (I got job in Thailand so i did Non B )
