I want to apply for the DTV visa for Thailand (l saving this September) I have all the qualifications and except the REASON. I am not a digital remote worker.

I have enrolled in a 2 week yoga intensive. I have contacted a few places where I am going but they either only want cash on arrival so no ability to present a receipt of payment for enrollment before applying for the visa from Canada.

One cooking school said “someone applied from here for their visa through our school” and this school offers one day - all day courses but….one day?!

The language schools I contacted want me to enroll of 2 months for 1000$.

Two extremes.

Has anyone found a happy medium for a place on KPG that will take payment from Canada in order to justify a long stay?

I went to the Amphur’s office today to request a “Single Status Certificate” needed for the K-1 visa interview. They couldn’t help or didn’t seem to know how to create one. Does anyone know what is needed and where I can get one of these certificates.

Hi, advice please. I’m currently in Thailand and will be leaving to go Jakarta soon and apply for a DTV Visa. Can anyone confirm what address they used when they completed their application? Did you use one in Thailand?

NEW REQUIREMENT TO BUY A TOURIST VISA FROM EMBASSIES

There is a LOT of misinformation about this topic going around out on the inter-web right now (not surprising :O )

Sadly, it's 100% due to people using bad terminology when they talk about entering thailand :O

SO

Let's sort out two completely different things FIRST

60 day visa exempt entry <- you show up here without having bought ANY visa from a thai consulate and you get stamped in FREE for 60 days on the visa exempt entry program (on July 15th 2024 it went from 30 day visa exempt entry to 60 days)

Currently, people from 90+ countries get that if they show up without having a visa in their passport to thailand. Visa Exempt entry stamps usually have the code ผ.60-ม.17.

A Visa Exempt entry is not a tourist visa, it's not a visa at all, it's nothing but a free 60 day entry stamp. This is not affected by the proof of funds rule change.

Tourist Visa entry <- this is where you BUY a tourist visa from a thai consulate using the online eVisa website before you come to thailand.

When you arrive you are stamped in for 60 days under the TR60 entry stamp.

This IS affected by the proof of funds rule change and now to buy a tourist visa from a thai consulate online before you come here you must show proof of funds (20k baht or the equivalent) as a requirement

One last time FREE 60 day entry stamps are NOT affected by this rule change, you ONLY show proof of funds if you decide to buy a tourist visa from a thai consulate online before you come here...

AND (just so everyone knows)

There is no update on when/if the current 60 day free entry might change back to 30 days. The government talked about it, had press releases about it but at this time nothing has been decided at all

I would like some advice. My wife is Thai and I’m an American. We plan to come Thailand in July and stay about 4 months. During that time, we will probably take a trip outside Thailand (maybe Laos, Viet Nam or the Philippines). My question is do I need to get a visa or just use the 60 day exemption and depend on the extensions that are available.

In addition to the normal 60 day extension, can I get a family extensions as I have in the past?

Thanks

Thailand has reinstated the requirement for tourist visa applicants to provide proof of financial resources, effective May 2025. This has now at least been implemented by the Royal Thai embassy Berlin and the 2 Thai consulates in Germany. Maybe other embassies will follow, I don't know. I wish to avoid any speculations.

It has already been installed in the e-visa online system of some Thai embassies, and others might follow soon.

This old

requirement was lifted in November 2023 to facilitate entry for international travelers.

Applicants for a 60-days single entry or multi entry tourist visa must now provide proof of at least 20,000 THB equivalent to their local currency, usually through recent bank statements or a letter of sponsorship.

This proof must be uploaded into the e-visa application.
