Just a quick question on 500k requirement.

Applying from london

I understand it needs to be shown in accessible bank account not fixed savings or crypto etc

I have this money in an instant access savings account... so it is accessible. Would this be ok or would I need to withdraw into my checking account.

Might seem like a silly question just want to be prepared and thinking ahead.

Thanks in advance

I have a question for the “sponsorship” part of the application if we choose to go that route, will be handling my girlfriends DTV visa and does the 500k baht need to be from her account? Or can i sponsor her showing proof of funds in my account? We are not married. Im guessing its a long shot but just curious to hear if anyone has gone this route

Hi Good Day! I need your advices,

I'm planning to apply for workcation Visa.

Im applying because immigration officer ask me to get a visa or else I will get trouble nextime I comeback to Thailand due to my frequent visits.

Question:

* Should I mention in cover letter that I have Thai Girlfriend? (Not yet married). In my recent visit and visa, reason was to visit GF. But since visa is workcation wonder if I should add info about my GF?

Profile:

* Filipino

* All requirements are met based on the official website for workcation visa. [members only]

* Has previous Tourist visa with 60 days stay (Applied 2 years ago before the 60 days scheme added by Thailand) - Applied this visa to stay longer with Thai GF.

* Visited Thailand this year 3 times already with 3 weeks stay per visit.

* Last year visited Thailand maybe 6 times some visit takes more than a month extended via immigration office. And did obey all rules never over stayed.

* The main reason for frequent visit was to meet and stay with Thai GF.

Thank You so much and have a great day! 🙏

Very happy to get DTV approved yesterday and thanks to all those who helped me when I had some uploading glitches, much appreciated. And of course I read others' updates on here regularly to help me prepare, hence I'm giving my update in the hope of helping others.

Here’s details of my application and what else I was asked to supply, and I hope the information can help anyone applying from HCMC under workation.

NZ passport

I have lived in HCMC for the past 10 years and applied in HCMC

Remote worker – Online teacher

Friday 1st August – Completed online application

Monday 4th August – requested 3 more documents

Tuesday 5th August – uploaded new information requested.

Thursday 7th August – Approved

I thought I had been very thorough and uploaded everything with cover letters/summaries, explanations etc. but still got asked for 3 extra documents:

1.Proof of current location – they asked for a photo of every page of my passport, including blank pages and with time and date stamp.

I was surprised because I have already uploaded by apartment contract (In Vietnamese and English) signed by landlady and with my address, my bank account with the same address, and my passport page with the last entry stamp into Vietnam.

2.Proof of payslips matching bank account – It simply said show proof of monthly payslips matching bank deposits. (They didn’t question the 500,000 THB, but my balance was significantly more.)

I thought this was odd too as I had already uploaded 6 months of bank statements showing salary, 6 months of payslips with company stamp and a little table on the cover page explaining it all.

The covering table listed the months, amount earned in GBP, amount deposited in NZD in bank account and a Thai conversion.

I couldn’t think of any way to make it simpler or more obvious so I just uploaded the same 6 payslips and the same bank statements again but put coloured highlights over the amounts and inserted a comment box saying – January payslip and January salary deposit.

3.Samples of work or portfolio – I had already sent my linkedIn link and a letter of recommendation from the organization I freelance to, stating what I do; tutor students, write course curriculum etc.

So, I decided to upload my CV, some lesson plans, a course I wrote, some IELTS speaking and writing marking templates I’d developed. I honestly thought this might be way off the mark, but didn't know what else could be relevant, and anyway it worked.

And of course I had already supplied all the company stuff; business registration, letter of recommendation, letter stating my work was all remote and no Thai clients and my work contract – all stamped with company stamp.

So, that was the screening process I experienced this week in HCMC. Now, you might get a different officer who checks different things, and they may get stricter or more lenient over time, but that was the state of play this week. I hope it’s helpful for someone thinking of applying in HCMC.

I’m in Roi-et on a non-O (retirement), and plan to apply for an extension. I have the money in kasikorn bank, but the seasoning will be complete on Oct. 1 (some difficulties getting that set up)and my 90 days is up on the 12th. Does that give enough time for processing or will I have to leave the country for a time?

I (m) and my two teenage kids want to stay long-term in Thailand. I’m employed by a european company and work remotely. We had been in Thailand for over two years on education and guardian visas, but since my kids stopped going to school this term, we needed another solution.

In July/August 2025, I applied for the DTV visa in Vientiane, Laos - and got approved. I’m sharing our process here in the hope it might help someone going through the same.

* Day 1: Created an account on the DTV online platform and prepared my own visa application.

* Day 3: Flew to Vientiane on a Friday, added missing information (proof of location), submitted the form.

* Day 6: Monday, paid the 10'000 THB fee in person at the embassy (cannot be paid online in Laos). Bring the printout with the QR code - it will be stamped.

* Day 9: Received email for an in-person interview in two weeks. They said to bring all original documents and that they would review online banking. (Note: everyone applying for a DTV visa is interviewed according to an information at the embassy.)

* Day 23: Attended the interview. Basic questions about my job, then I had to log in to my online bank to show recent salary payments and my WISE account. My Bangkok Bank account was not of interest.

* Day 23: Got email with approval notice and visa (PDF).

* Day 24: Flew to Bangkok to activate my visa. Prepared dependent visas for my kids.

* Day 25: Returned to Vientiane with my kids and submitted their applications (dependend DTV visa).

* Day 26: Paid 10,000 THB each. One visa approved by noon; the other was canceled because I had selected the wrong country in one of the form field.

* Day 26: Resubmitted the canceled application.

* Day 27: Paid the fee again. Embassy requested an English version of the birth certificate (it was already multilingual). I re-uploaded the same document but highlighted the English labels.

* Day 28: Visa approved.

* Day 29: Flew to Bangkok, showed the visa at immigration, and got the passport stamp.

Just had my DTV visa approved, applied last week, they got back to me within 24 hours requesting more information, I had to wait for my latest bank statement which was available yesterday and woke up to approval in my inbox this morning. This was London embassy so all in all their side took less than 48 hours to process and receive. The bad news is don't fly for another month lol.

Hi everyone! My husband applied for the DTV workcation at the London Embassy (as a British citizen) and he received a request for more info. They are asking for a utility bill as proof of residency but we've been living in Thailand for the last year as dependents on the kids education visas.

What other documents can we provide to prove we are in the UK? He doesn't have a UK driving license, and we stay at my brother's house so no hotel reservation.

Thank you.

Hey everyone, I’m thinking of applying for the DTV in Ho Chi Minh City soon and trying to get clarity on the financial proof requirement.

I’ve got more than 500,000 baht in GBP sitting in my UK bank account, but it’s only been there for a few weeks. Some places say it needs to have been sitting there for three months, others say it doesn’t matter.

Has anyone here applied in HCMC and got approved with less than three months of bank history?

I can also include a sponsorship letter from a parent with their bank statements and proof of relationship if needed, but I’d rather just use my own funds if possible.

Would really appreciate any recent experiences or advice. Thanks.
