I’ve got a few questions about DTV visa, hope someone here can share some experience:
1 Embassy on the invitation letter
Does the “soft power” invitation letter actually say which Thai embassy you have to apply at?
When I applied, I told my Muay Thai organization I’d do it in Vietnam, but I ended up going to the Thai Embassy in Laos instead. Is that okay, or will that be a problem?
2 Reapplying after rejection
Has anyone been rejected at one Thai embassy (like Ho Chi Minh City) and then successfully applied again at another one (like Hanoi or another country) using the same invitation letter?
Just wondering if that’s possible or if the rejection follows you everywhere 😅
3 Bank statement / financial proof (Vietnam case)
For those who applied in Vietnam — do they really need 6 months of bank statements, or would 3 months be fine?
And can the bank account for the statements be different from the one showing the 500,000 THB deposit? (e.g. two different banks)
Thanks a lot for any info or personal experience 🙏
Would really appreciate if anyone could share how strict different embassies are with these things!
Looking to get digital nomad dtv. However i dont do any sort of work, my income has been stable through property i rent out in Australia and İ do have 500,000 baht in my bank account. Would it be possible to get the digital nomad dtv or should i look into soft power dtv?
İf i go for the soft power dtv it will be through muay thai training. İ also want to know if i can change gyms throughout the visa if needed or am i locked into the one gym i applied to the visa with (the reason id most likely need to change gym is due to moving to another city within Thailand)
Hey hey guys, I’m Geneva. Been in the group a while, but just bouncing back from a bug & have been deep into preparing for the flight to Thailand with my 2 pups.
I’m looking at all this information about the DTV Visa using search, & I’ll be honest either my mind is still foggy or information is all over the place.
I have not chosen Thailand to be my forever home yet, but I am deciding between different VISAS. I wanted to do the student visa, because I want to take cooking classes & really get into the culture. However, just wanted feedback on which VISAS you all have & for what reasons. Can you still take classes if you have a different VISA, or is the student VISA a necessity?
I’m in Vegas, so I only have an embassy in California… can’t afford to be taking a trip and selecting the wrong one. I fly out next week, and will do my initial 60 days.
SN: I am American, brand new passport for 10yrs; military brat, started every thing in life in Europe, been traveling all my life but always with family. First solo international adventure. Also my dogs are fine; permits approved, health certificate, DOT, etc I do not need any information in regards to that.
October 17th (requested contract signed & stamped)
October 20th (resubmitted contract with cover letter explaining that the company doesn't do this along with more proof that it is indeed a real company that hires independent contractors & more proof I'm one them)
When using the monthly income for "extension of stay" if submitting a credit advice for proof of income coming from abroad do you still need a 1 year bank statement?? We've lived here 12 years & every year has subtle changes 😉 logic says no but.....
Does anyone know of a reputable agent in Chiang Mai for assistance with opening Thai bank account on a non immigrant O Visa in case I encounter problems doing it myself? Any advice greatly appreciated thanks
Hi fellow DTV holders. I’ll be doing my first 90 day check in. Going to chaing Mai immigration office. Any advice or recommendations? What should I bring with me? I’m already planning to get there early. Your response is appreciated
Hi. I'm currently trying to help my mother-in-law obtain a retirement visa. She doesn't want to go back to the UK as she no longer has a home there. Some people mentioned that it can be done in countries other than your home country, so we want to know if anyone has had success recently (without using an agent).
We're considering applying for a Non-O Retirement (90-day) visa in Vietnam, then applying for an extension in Thailand. But I'm not sure how we can prove that she meets the financial requirements -she has the 800k in her UK bank account, which she can access through her app. She could print out the bank statements herself, but they wouldn’t be verified by any British authority. I'm planning to contact the Thai Embassy in Vietnam soon, but I’d also like to hear about people’s actual experiences.
