Hi there.

My visa application is rejected. I applied 17 dec /rejected 22 dec. I applied for worcation , i provided nearly 1 million baht of savings (last 6 months). I provied my uk Ltd files. I provided wise and payoneer invoices. Proof of accommodation and proof of current place (hanoi). I sent A dashboard screenshot of my portfolio as im working e-commerce cash on delivery. I highlighted the countries's currencies where I operate to proof that i don't operate in Thailand. I don’t why i got rejected? Did i miss something or what? Should i contact them? They didn't give the reason of rejection. Should i go visit the embassy maybe i get some clarification about the reason of rejection? (I can add my files add i provided for discussion here in the comments if that's okay)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user applied for a workation visa in Thailand but faced rejection shortly after submission. They provided substantial proof, including financial statements, work contracts, and business documentation but did not receive any reason for the rejection. Users in the comments suggest various potential issues that could have led to this outcome, including the need for clearer documentation, a possible anti-fraud measure from immigration due to perceived risks associated with e-commerce operations, or even possible biases related to their nationality. The general consensus is to contact the embassy for clarification, possibly seek legal assistance, or consider reapplying with an agent who specializes in Thai immigration.
Kobyakov ***********
Just wait, they'll email you the reason later. Most likely, there was an error in the form.
Phyf ****
What some of these folks are doing is making up portfolios and bs trying to screen shot it and getting rejected. You have to show 6 months of bank statements with income going into said account. They look for regular deposits from a source that can be tracked. You can’t just throw some money into an account or make up some “portfolio” or you’ll be rejected every single time. You must show that you have consistent deposits that are high enough to meet their criteria. When the paperwork is right most people get their visa in 4-5 days after applying. If you’re having trouble it’s more than likely you tried to bs or make something up or your revenue is from something illegal, either way they’re are going to know. They actually check your stuff out which is good.
Mona ****
I also got a rejection on 21st of December. I have all documents I applied in Berlin, Germany. I think recently something happened. I emailed and called to ask for a reason since in my case I am the person who DTV was actually made for :/ dm me for exchange I cannot keep up with most of the nonsense here
Anonymous ******************
For work cation, you also need 6 months of payslips. So you should be showing 6 months of income (ie. Each month) where you are receiving income from your ecom store.

Also just as a friendly tip based on the way you wrote this post, provide your info with clarity and be clear in your letter, addressing their concerns. Think of it from their pov, why would you be a red flag. And keep that in mind whilst writing the letter.

Best of luck
Dany ********
Anonymer Teilnehmer 782 there is no requirement for any payment slips at all. that would be a very embassy specific request. not the norm

Try Vietnam, if you work online you can just live on a tourist visa and workout if you want to stay long term.

People need to stop trying to do your visa apps by yourself and hire someone that knows what they are doing so you don't miss anything. You miss one small thing, like you didn't sign in the correct spot and they will reject. I've been here over ten years and never had an issue with my visa.

Anonymous participant 689 Having accepted payment to provide goods/service, Consumer Protection and Customer Service standards apply. Marc Pereira Bangkok ranks 18th among world’s billionaire cities, Visual Capitalist report shows 💸💸💸

Bangkok has been ranked 18th among the world’s top 20 cities with the highest number of billionaires, according to a new ranking published by the website Visual Capitalist.

The ranking is based on data from Forbes’ annual global rich list and shows how billionaire wealth is increasingly concentrated in major urban centers around the world.

Visual Capitalist reported that New York City ranked first by a wide margin, with 109 billionaires, followed by Hong Kong with 74, Moscow with 73, Mumbai with 69, Beijing with 63 and London with 62.

Bangkok was ranked 18th with 26 resident billionaires, just behind Tokyo, which ranked 17th with 27 billionaires.
Jeffrey *****
Marc Pereira Thailand isn't poor—it's classified as an upper-middle-income economy by the World Bank, with a GNI per capita between $4,516 and $14,005 (around $7,346 in recent data). It's grown rapidly from an agricultural base to a major exporter in manufacturing and tourism, ranking 31st globally in total GDP. Compared to truly low-income countries (under $1,145 per capita), Thailand is doing quite well, though it faces challenges like inequality. What makes you say it's poor?
Jeffrey *****
Marc Pereira why do you speak with insults about Thailand? If nothing good to say better keep quiet. If you are not happy or very negative about Thailand. Why do you join this group? Just leave unless you are looking for something to troll about. Why can't people be nice on Facebook. You are right the cost is high and yet so many people will pay for this.

Paul Anthony McDermott this is DTV group, so everyone here is inherently talking about the DTV...

This kind of rejection is very common and usually not about money. Thai embassies focus heavily on how your income is classified, not how much you have. E-commerce, COD, dashboards, Wise/Payoneer flows, and owning a company often trigger concerns about active business operations, even if you’re remote and not working in Thailand. Screenshots and portfolios are usually considered weak evidence. They prefer formal contracts, salary/dividend statements, accountant letters, and consistent bank deposits.

Embassies also don’t give reasons by policy, and visiting in person rarely helps. The fix is to reapply with a restructured file (clear role description, accountant letter, clean income trail) or apply via a different embassy. Reapplying with the same structure almost always gets rejected again.
Andy *********
Never heard of Worcation Visa, just non-B, but need to be invited by a company in Thailand 🇹🇭

DTV probably more suitable, however depending on your length of stay, just a tourist visa would be ok if you’re only having an odd meet here and there about work.
MacKenzie ******
Andy Collins ‘workaction’ is a category under the DTV. It’s for remote work instead of soft power.
Andy *********
@MacKenzie *****
yes but the may not see as remote work.
MacKenzie ******
For sure so that’s what the letter from your boss (or yourself if you are the boss) is supposed to outline. It’s a requirement for this visa category.

It needs to say something to the effect of “this person can work from anywhere” or “remote work is okay” or “is approved to work online from Thailand” something among these lines, and it should be okay. To my understanding this letter is more or less a check box requirement though. You need to submit it.
Paul ********************
Andy Collins and that's possibly the crux of all of this.. Apply for a tourist visa and then tell them you will be working guaranteed to get you rejected
Andy *********
Paul Anthony McDermott yes, you don’t tell them. Again on the definition of work. A meeting here or there is nothing working at office, meetings and other work related tasks, agreed need the right visa, Non-B.

It sounds like you have your own biz. I believe people were submitting docs to make themselves look like an employee in their own biz and getting accepted. As the DTV was aimed at freelancers. But if you show you’re a biz owner they reject. I got mine when they first launched, so this is what people were saying back then
Anonymous ******************

I got my DTV as a businesss owner/freelancer. I submitted business registration documents that showed me as being the owner of my business but also showed how I freelance through fiverr and have an etsy shop using my business registration. Signed my own NDA letter as the owner claiming that I have no problems with me working remotely from Thailand etc too. Got approved last year. So I don’t think that was the problem

And of course the bank statements; they asked for 3 months, I sent them 6 months worth of statements anyway

Others have used Wise and Payoneer and approved so they are not the issue. I think owning part of the company you need to provide approval from the other shareholder to work remotely. John Nielson actually you can upgrade your wise account so that it is a bank account.
Luit *****************
Steve Hickman No, Wise is not a bank, they have no bank license, so you cannot upgrade in a way to make it a bank account. They can offer same functionality, but still no bank. But we don't even know if the funds are proven with Wise, OP only mentions invoicing with Wise.
Bill *********
Steve *********
@Luit ****************
really I think you need to do some research. My wise account is a current account in both Euro and GBP 🤷‍♂️
Luit *****************
Steve Hickman Maybe YOU should do some research. WISE IS NOT A BANK!!!

******************************************

The fact you have an account somewhere does not make that institute a bank.

If you like, you can send me your mopney and I make an account for you.

When you need the money I just send it to you.

Does that make me a bank? Certainly not!!
Andi ***********
John Nielson I know it is not a bank but it is acceptable at numerous embassies for DTV approval. 100s of posts in the threads confirm this.
Bill *********
@Andi **********
that is your opinion. It clearly states on the website it must be a personal bank account.

I got approved using wise
Andi ***********
Bill Cleaver It is FACT not my opinion. Wise and Revolut are accepted in Europe and SEA for DTV approval. 100s of posts detail how they have been used to gain DTVS.

Ian Kalway no agent has influence in the process as visa applications are handled by the local

embassy’s in each country
Ian ********
@Dany *******
agents make sure every single dot is filled out. And you are wrong, there are agents with absurd levels of influence here. But most importantly, they get things done right.

I’ve done it both ways and will always pay an agent at this point to make my life easier
Dany ********
Ian Kalway the DTV application requires you to upload 4 documents and that takes maybe 10mins with everything double checked.

no agent has any influence in the specific random MFA / embassy worker that picks your application.

My two cents. There’s a lot going on in Thailand with call centers and scams. Not that you’re doing that but I’m guessing that’s why you were rejected. They’re targeting money launderers and the like. Again , not saying you’re doing that but it sounded to this layman like there’s something suspicious because of the money aspect. Hope you get it sorted out. Good luck

You own 75% so it’s not fully your company so therefore you would have needed a letter from the other person stating that they allow allow you to work remotely as well as the people that you do online marketing for they also allow you to work remotely.

Did you also provide the contract letter between you and your client.

Did you also write a cover letter explaining what you do where you do it and what the work entails and that your own company allows you to work remotely
Christopher ***********

The embassy could have requested that as additional information?

I also didn't get the workation visum. But they told me that i can change to soft power dtv. This is what they send me.

After examination, you are not eligible to apply for DTV workation, you are eligible for DTV Soft Power (Thai cooking class, Thai boxing or Thai language courses). Pls confirm if you would like to change to DTV Soft Power or Tourist visa multiple entries.
Andi ***********

Paris in france. I am a seaman working in France territorial waters. My company sended me a letter that i can choose where o want have my residence. And they pay my flights. I work 6weeks on 6weeks of. Also my captain wrote a letter with proof of stay in French waters. But that's not a workation for Thailand. Because I'm only for pleasure and rest in Thailand. I choose now for the Tourist Visa.and later i wil look for a school for thai language. And apply again. Because i dont think that I have enough time now get al documents in order before 7jan.
Andi ***********
Anonymous participant 778 i can see why you were rejected for workcation other seaman have tried the same for workcation. Does Paris allow for thai language courses? Many embassies do not. I'm now in Paris for xmas, tres froid.
Anonymous ******************
@Andi **********
yeah for me they allow the soft power if i do one of the 3 courses. Language, cooking or thai boxing
Christopher ***********
@Andi **********
Paris Embassy actually suggested cooking, boxing or Thai language. As you say, nice that they offered not one, but two alternatives (Soft Power or METV). If the gentleman selects METV and they then refund half of his fee they will go down in history as the best Thai Embassy!
Andi ***********
@Christopher **********
Paris has a record of being one of the worst embassies for the DTV. Long process, lack of communication etc. A very welcome surprise with their handling of this and yeah they are in the running as the best Thai Embassy.

That's misinformation, visa agents cannot influence the decision of the immigration officer. they only help with paperwork.
Kenneth ***********
@Robert *********
that's not totally true...well, not for "all" visa agencies. Some reputable agencies have "paid" contacts within the immigration bureau...at least they did in the past. With the reinforcement of rules, it may be a little difficult, but not impossible. You will pay more, but always go to a more reputable visa agency.
Robert **********
@Kenneth **********
You are mistaken, how could you know that to be true? Did an agent tell you that? Thailand may have been like that in the past, not now.
