f you go to live in Thailand on the Australian Aged Pension (AAP) you will receive from Centrelink about Bt 620,000 per year or about Bt12,000 per week (Aus $27,000 per year). You can rent a condo in Hua Hin or a similar A/C condo long-term for about Bt 84,000 per year. The other Bt 530,000 or so is for you to do as you like, perhaps you might have to pay some tax or perhaps not. The Thai Tax department does not know...yet

I am hoping to retire at least part time in Thailand in 2026 , I don’t earn enough to get a retirement visa, I have a son who lives in Phuket .

I have another so in South Africa so I would spend a few months a year there . I will be 66 and self supporting, I see people mentioning visa exempt, what does this mean , how long can I actually stay for , I think I can get an extension of a month but not sure how often , so many things to figure out ,, I figured that medical cover is also too expensive for me so will rely on travel insurance, any advice would be helpful ,

Hy folks , been coming to Thailand for 20 ish years once or twice a year .

It's getting towards that time when i'll be making the move . End of June 2026 is the time line i'm planning on .

I'll be 58yrs old with £80k in a bond , at current rates thats about £7.5k a year . Also will have £30k cash , topped up when i'm 60yrs old with £10k more .

Now i'm not interested in is it enough or not , each person spends different .

What i would like to know ,with the reglations as they are now , what type of Visa , if any , i would be eligible for .

I have been to thailand twice , visited koh lanta koh tao and other places, i never felt it was enough i think i can spent few years peacefully. Now going through hardships fired from job my wife divorced me trying to fond a job for long time its just nothing is really working out im going through the broken heart and depression phase of my life again, i just have something usd1000 in my account , and i was wondering if there is a way how i can move to thailand and work and live there happily , im not very highly qualified , but i can do some work in a cafe or resort , and im really good at photography and videography .
