Good evening everyone I was born in Italy but I have been living in London for 26 years. I am 59 years old and would really like to retire in Thailand where I have already traveled several times and where I met a lady and would like to get married. Question: what do I need from A to Z to do this? bank account, visas, if I need to have a house with her etc.. Thank you all so much

I've just submitted my application for the DTV into the Thai Embassy in Canberra and was surprised to find the 10,000 THB fee charged as A$600 which at the current exchange rate is 12,600 THB! I have THB to pay with but the system only accepts A$.

Has anyone heard of or gotten a “Thailand elite” visa or is this a scam? Looking to retire there in the next 6 months and trying to figure out the best way to go about it. Thanks

Been here nearly 6 month so getting close to doing my first border run. Has anyone done an organised minivan border run from pattaya for there next 180 days yet?

I messaged a local agent asking if how much for a border run, they replied 3800baht for 60 days, I replied I had the dtv so would automatically get 180 days to which they replied oh the price is 5800 baht, when I asked why they said its because you get more days, I asked why that matters it's the same distance your taking me and there's no extra cost to you. Your getting more days so you pay more was the reply! Gotta love Thailand, always a way of them getting a few extra baht when they can!!

Edit. I do have a car, just dont fancy doing the trip on my own and getting stuck on the cambodian side if for any reason i dont get back in 🙄

Hello group. My husband Gary and I are coming back to Bangkok and Hua Hin for a holiday and recognisance to hopefully collect further information on our hopeful retirement in Thailand. Can anyone suggest a business or someone to book a time to ask questions on the right type of visa for us, best locations to look at to live in etc. I have collated a lot of information but we want to go through this with the appropriate party to make sure we understand what is required. We want to check out some recommended areas to live, apartments costs before we move.

Thanks for any helpful info.

Hey , so around the summer of 2027 I’m going to be leaving out the army (not retirement) I’ll be 28 and my plan is to use my gi bill to go to college full time learning Thai for 4 years. Any advice of work from home jobs certifications or savings amount and anything else that is recommended to make the move easier that I should do before I move there. I have 2 years to prep.

Real question: What's the point applying for DTV if we (may) have to show proof of ongoing soft power every time we ask for extension?

DTV application 10k

6 month Muay Thai registration is 20 k

So far 40k a year plus 10k once.

Did i miss anything?

I’m applying for a DTV visa for cooking classes in Thailand. The Thai/British Embassy requires the course to last at least one month. I’m being quoted 65k baht. £1500 for a one month course. No accommodation. Is this what you expect to pay.
