I’ve recently applied for the DTV through the Wellington Embassy (yep, I know—it’s the pricey one, but since I’m based in NZ I figured I’d give it a go).
The embassy has come back with this request:
“Other requested documents: Proof of accommodation in Thailand for the entire duration of stay is required.”
Has anyone else come across this? What did you provide?
I’ve got accommodation sorted for the first month but was planning to find an apartment once I arrive in Chiang Mai.
* 3/11: Application submitted and payment completed
* 4/11: Status changed to *Pending Approval*
* 10/11: VISA approved, no additional documents requested
Documents submitted:
* Passport copy (first page only)
* Muay Thai-related documents
* 6 months of bank statements + Finance Certificate from my French bank
* Flight and hotel bookings for Vietnam
* Passport entry stamp + photo of myself holding my passport and hotel keys
Note:
My passport was issued by the French Embassy in Bangkok, and for the “Place of Issue,” I entered it exactly as written on the passport (letter by letter).
Hi there, I know one should apply for a Non-O Visa before coming to Thailand to start the process towards retiring in Thailand.
I am confused about whether it has to be issued from your home country of citizenship or if it can be done from another country,
I see a number of comments saying you can do it from Vietnam for example.
We travel a lot and could quite possibly prefer to apply from another Thai Embassy other than New Zealand. I know the NZ embassy will say we must apply from them, but is it correct?
It is likely we will want to go from Europe/Turkey where we currently spend nearly six months a year, to Vietnam and apply for Non-O Visas there before going to Thailand towards the end of 2026 with the view towards achieving retirement status?
We would be heading to Hua Hin to set up accommodation and bank accounts etc. We have the funds to deposit the 800k baht each.
Ideally we’d prefer to manage the process ourselves or are we better to use an agent to make the process smoother and watertight?
My dtv got rejected I had all documents but I think they were funny about how long yhe 500k baht had been in my bank, but over the span of 3-6 I’ve had at least 1.5M baht through my account.
Looking for advice – change of travel date after DTV e-visa submission (London)
Hi all,
I submitted my DTV e-visa application to the Royal Thai Embassy in London on 27 October. The portal still shows *Processing – Pending Document Check*. On my application I put an intended arrival of 1 December, but my plans have changed and I’m now considering travelling on 11 November.
I’m worried my case might be low priority because the original arrival date was a month away, and I’m unsure how best to notify the embassy so the visa arrives in time.
Questions for anyone who’s done this recently:
* Have you changed your travel date after submitting—did it cause any issues or delays?
* Did you email the London e-visa team? If so, which email address worked and what subject line did you use?
* Did you attach your updated flight itinerary or re-upload it on the portal?
* After emailing, how long did it take for them to respond or update the status?
* Any tips on wording so it’s seen as informational (not asking them to amend core details) and possibly helps prioritise due to earlier travel?
For context: I’m not trying to create a duplicate application—just inform them of the new intended travel date and check if they need anything from me.
Thanks in advance for any experiences, email contacts, or practical tips!
I want to apply for a DTV visa for Thailand, but I have a few questions.
My current residence is in Canada, but my available funds and bank account are in France, the country where I was born. I’m wondering if having my bank account in a different country from my residence could cause any issues with my application.
If I go to Vietnam and apply from there using my French passport and my bank in France, do you think that could work better?
When I was living in Canada, I had to renew my French passport at the French Consulate in Vancouver in Canada. On my passport, my residence is listed as my Canadian address. Could this be a problem ? Thank you for your advice!
