What are the experiences and tips regarding the TDAC form at Thai immigration during peak season?

Finally arrived in Thailand. I’ve never seen immigration this busy. It’s possible that it’s the time (13:00 Ish) of day and year as I normally arrive in the New year and early evening. On the other hand it could be the fact that sooooo many people are not filling in their TDAC. In my queue alone, I saw 8 people being turned back to go and fill it in. Plus a family of 4 in front of me, who hadn’t got a clue what the immigration officer was telling them. I explained it all to them but they expected myself and everyone behind me to wait while they filled it in. The immigration officer and myself was having none of that 😜. So please people do yourselves a favour and the rest of us queuing. Fill the TDAC in at the correct time.

I am sure that the main problem is ignorance of TDAC. However a significant issue is the utterly ridiculous 72 hr rule. Other countries adopting a TDAC approach have opted for 7-10 days. As it is many people find it impossible to complete the application and are constrained to complete on arrival. Simply, Thailand needs to change the time-lines and to do a massively better job of informing the public of the existence of TDAC - that is public at home and abroad.

The big deal is the moronic 72 hrs. Simple as that. If people are travelling can they actually conform to that. Hence the normal ruling on this such that at least a large percentage of people can complete before travelling and hitting issues of even being able to access the site. It is to do with ease of access not ease of completion. Access is further limited if you have no idea you have to complete the document and frankly the fact has not been well communicated. For Goodness sake ,It is not to do with time other than the frame being too narrow. It is to do with access to the site, access to to equipment, access to SIms that are useable, and access to wi-fi the list goes on. The only point about time is that in a busy work schedule sorting that stuff is impossible to fit in. But even for leisure travellers who want to sit by a pool, why shouldn't they be allowed to simply do that. Because not actually being able to complete the form within the allotted hours is a big deal. You end up with the ridiculousness of doing it at the arrival airport. The normal 7-10 days adopted in other countries means that at least a fair number of people can, in fact, complete before leaving home, not to mention that agents often deal with the issue elsewhere.Nick *******

You can’t board a flight to Vietnam with out a visa, so why can you board a flight to Thailand with out completing the DTAC - 5 minute online visa.

Airlines should Do passengers a favor and announce compulsive completion of DTAC
while on the plane or At Check in,
when given boarding cards,
before taking off at, check in counter all Thailand flights should place a reminder to complete Digital Arrival card the same way they ask you if you have a Visa, before given the boarding card.

There are no extra planes landing at peak season - roughly the same year round - these queues must be driven by less IMOs or more checks done for people they don’t want back in.

1 hr 15mins from start of queue to baggage carousel last week. It is what it is. Vietnam HCM is absolutely horrendous and was more than 2 hours. London took a non EU national 1 hour as well a few days ago.

Flew in yesterday and a similar queue. The airport staff directed me towards the other immigration arrival hall further along arrivals which wasn't that bad.

If you do it early it’s about £48 or 1900 baht but I did mine last minute so had to pay £90 but it was worth it. Buggy picked me up from the airport bridge and straight to priority lane no queue and through immigration in 2 mins.

It's not the TDAC itself that is the problem. Of course, the number of visitors at any point in time can cause delays, but part of the problem is that some people are actually being idiots and contributing to this by telling foreigners that they can do it upon arrival in Thailand. I've seen that a lot since the introduction of the online form. Everyone should be telling others that it can be done online within 72 hours of arrival and should do it before flying to avoid contributing to delays at airport arrivals.
