I think this site should answer several of your questions.

I found ThaiPass to be a huge pain in the ass. Other group members had better experiences, seems to be a crap-shoot.

I would recommend asking the group for a recommendation of how to book and with who to book your hotel and tests. I think it maybe helpful to use a good hotel. Another member said they used a service to handle ThaiPass, if I had to do it again I would strongly consider paying a little extra to somebody to deal with the stress.

Best of luck

I think you will be fine. Have the visa, the 3 proofs, good attitude and you will likely be fine. Always travel with a plan B. Smaller airports (Phuket) are better than BKK, probably.

This site 'Thai Visa Advice...' is useful and with a lot of people with practical experience. Also their are a bunch of quacks (Tod is not one of them).. Take to the good with the bad. Realize you are taking risks.

I have read several people say "They know somone.. " or "Heard of people..." having issue coming back in.. Although, I have not read any first-person accounts.

Tod is extremely knowledgeable and I don't really know about cancelling the visa. I suspect if cancel is required, the visa agent did that for me when they converted to covid extension. I think Tod's other advice was to get a visa before you come, which I did, so I also recommend that.

If you don't speak the language you will always be fly on the wall, just hanging around listening to people speak in language you don't understand. Try watching TV in a language you don't understand, see how long it takes you to get bored with it.

Then give her the option to go hang out with you, dinner and a movie or go hangout with her best friends (her family). She will be willing to go with you, but her preference will be her family, she will also get bored in a foreign language if she has options.

I have live with several Thai girlfriends, all from Isan. It goes well and I prefer it. But I think I would not enjoy it so much if I lived in Isan with their families.

Also, in Thai culture, people are more of a community thing. Those who have money are usually the ones to pay for things. Usually its not much money and not a big deal, unless you are tight with your money. As an working stiff, American, I have a few bucks but prefer save it for rainy day. This concept is a little foreign to many Thai, who often live in the moment. That is not meant to derogatory, but a culture difference.

I dont think that is strange. I think that is Thailand. One of many reasons I love it here.

I was on volunteer visa, then covid extension. I left to my home country (US) for 6 weeks, came back no problems.

Some member in this group thinks because I came back through Phuket I didn't get hassled, that BKK is bad but Phuket is not. I do not know that to be true, just that I had no issue coming back through Phuket.

Also, noteworthy, on my return to Thailand I had a tourist visa, if that makes a difference.

Best of luck.

Sometimes they ask for vaccine record or proof of test. Sometimes they don't. My girlfriend was asked to do a test at the airport, done in 15 minutes. I don't understand it. I would recommend travelling with the vaccine record or have your girlfriend call airline/airport.
