Does anybody have a suggestion for a background check from the USA?

It doesn't have to be all that serious nor does it have to be notarized.

The last time I had to do this, went to the local courthouse and they printed out a document that said I had no pending cases... That's all I need now.  

I see there are several websites that offer the services. They are happy to take my credit card and do not mention a price... Hence, probably not a good idea.

I did one in California about 6 months ago. they were really strict about identification, so I had to show them my driver's license. I believe it was actually an FBI search for criminal records. something tells me that you're supposed to be there in person before they'll run the background check which is why you have the shady sites. Good luck!

Try a mail center at a truck stop. Interstate drivers need it all the time

Years ago I got one through UPS. I went to an office, had my fingerprints taken, and filled in a form. I got my report a week later and it satisfied my application for an OA visa. Check to see if UPS offers this service in your area.
