What are the financial requirements to renew a marriage visa?

I know I had to have 400K in the bank to get the visa. I went through an agent and I did not have to show the money came from international orgin.

I will renew my marriage visa in about 8 months. I hope to not use an agent to renew.

I have to have 400K in the bank? Does it have to show international origin?

If I choose to show I have income coming from US, do I have to show a year's worth of deposits?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To renew a marriage visa in Thailand, you typically need to maintain 400,000 THB in a Thai bank account without needing to show that it comes from an international source. Additionally, if you opt to demonstrate income instead, you must show one year's worth of deposits. It's also important to check with your local immigration office to confirm whether you can handle the renewal yourself if you previously used an agent.

If you used an agent for your last extension you will have to check with your immigration office to see if you can do your next one yourself (regardless that you have all the financials in place). For various reasons they may well tell you that you have to go back to that agent to get your next one.

The only way to break that “chain” if they do is to leave the country and re apply for a new non O either at a consulate nearby or in country off a exempt/tourist entry.

maybe so but that’s how it works here.

Yeah - I am little concerned about the 'chain'.

For a marriage visa you do not have to show where the money came from just that you meet the requirements with money in a Thai bank.

It does not have to have international origin for marriage extension.

You have to fulfill the years extension of 400k until the next renewal PLUS have a years worth of deposits to qualify under Income.

For most it is easier just to maintain the 400k.

what the above post said is not exactly true. You need bt400,000 in a Thai bank account at least two months before you apply. After you get your one year extension stamp you can do whatever you want with the money. It does not have to stay in your account. For the monthly deposit option, if you are legally working then you must have at least bt40,000 direct deposited into your Thai bank account every month for at least 12 months. If you are not working then those monthly deposits of at least bt40,000 must come from an overseas source. Under both cases each month must be at least bt40,000. The deposits can never drop below bt40,000, with the intention of depositing more the next month to make up the shortage. Immigration does not accept that.
