So I have a friend who is retired (Grandpa). He has a retirement visa and a Thai wife and a couple of properties here in Thailand. He lives in Pattaya and a US citizen.
His kid (Dad) has a kid (grandson, 10 years old) who would like to visit for 6-12 months.
Dad is not eligible for a long term visa and may do a METV for 9 months or whatever.
Can grandson be a dependent of Grandpa? And therefore get a long term visa through grandpa's retirement visa?
Grandson can get an edu visa?
TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen's grandson, wishing to visit Thailand for 6-12 months, cannot be a dependent on his grandfather's retirement visa. Instead, the grandson can enter Thailand on an exemption visa and pursue an education visa if he plans to attend school. His father could utilize a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) as an option for a longer stay.
