Any speculation what happens after July 31 visa/permission to stay expires?

Does Thailand have asylum? I can make the argument that the my country is in horrible state and its unsafe to return.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the uncertainty of visa expirations and potential government announcements regarding amnesty after July 31. While some speculate on possible extensions or re-openings for visa runs, others highlight that Thailand does not offer asylum, and being from a stable country makes it unlikely to obtain one. Additionally, options such as applying for a retirement visa for those over fifty are mentioned, as well as the financial strain some foreigners may be experiencing.

In contrast. If Thailand had the population of the US, they would have 18,000. Much Much better than 100,000.

Joel D Greene: You miss my point. It was said a few days ago, but all he was referring to was the previous policy that existed before the borders closed to foreigners completely. No one knows what will happen in June/July until something official is announced. Either the borders will stay closed and the amnesty extended past 31 July, or there will be some type of relaxation allowing people to do visa runs.

If want asylum, just overstay , there is no way a person from a first world country will be granted asylum in Thailand.

Maybe you could try getting a burmese, malaysian or loas passport and go work on construction sites with all the other people who are trying to make ends meat in Thailand.

My guess. 1 Jul announcement Amnesty ends 2359 31 Jul. You either need to be out of the country by then or within Thai borders with a valid and current visa and/or extension. Means find a flight now, and there are 3 or so every few days back to Europe. Visa extensions granted after 31 Jul will not be entertain caused the flight was too expensive, your inconvenienced in your home country, medical is better here. All those excuses won't wash after 31 Jul. Asylum? Try claiming that upon entry not after being here 3 months, dun work that way.

I’m thinking most of the “extended” visa people are running out of cash fast and wouldn’t be able to meet the official retirement visa requirements money wise,. They have all had a good free run, so don’t take the piss and do the right thing,.

I’m talking about the 2 week millionaires, not the retirees,.lads who went out for a limited period,.friend of my son has been stuck out there with no money for weeks,.

@Mike *******
why would they be running out of cash? Retirement usually means pension.

If you are over fifty you can now apply for a retirement visa after the amnesty without leaving the country. Visa agents just announced it

An announcement will be made within the next few weeks (hopefully sooner). Either the amnesty will be extended again, or some borders will re-open to allow border/visa runs.
