I love Thailand.

Hate the visa process

If applying for eVisa to fly from USA to Thailand how soon should I apply?  My travel plans are not yet confirmed.  I would like to travel end of January beginning of February.  I buy tickets now, apply for visa, then wait until 3 weeks before flying to do thai pass?  

Any land borders open for border bounce at this time?
