How can I avoid long waiting times at immigration offices in Thailand?

Awesome Pro-tip. Works in Pattaya and probably every other immigration office.

When you go to immigration and get your queue ticket, there is a QR code on that ticket. If you scan that code and follow the instructions, you will download an app. That app tells you your place in the queue.

You no longer need to wait at immigration until your number is called. In my case, my wait was about 90 minutes, I was free to go to breakfast, massage, beach, whatever.

That application also lets you make reservations for immigration but I couldn't get that part to work. Nothing is perfect.

Thank You Immigration for being pretty awesome sometimes.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A community member shares a useful tip for expats visiting immigration offices in Pattaya, highlighting the benefits of a QR code system on queue tickets. By scanning the QR code, users can download an app that provides updates on their place in line, allowing them to wait elsewhere during their appointment. Although they faced some issues with making reservations through the app, the overall experience was positive, leading to additional comments on making appointments and sharing knowledge on queuing systems at immigration offices across Thailand.

I am not arguing with those people.

And that attitude (which you and thousands of foreigners have) is the reason those officers can get away with what they do. I've argued and gone toe-2-toe with officers trying to tell me an imaginary rule many MANY times.

IF you know what you're doing, IF you know how to do it, stand your ground.

Only ever been to the one in Patong and Phuket City. Both are just wait in line with no numbers.
