Just went to immigration and was greeted with this. I am on Tourist visa expires Mid-may. She told me I am good until July 31. I asked for a friend about 90 check-in, she said it was unnecessary. There is a number to call to verify your situation is applicable

TLDR : Answer Summary
This discussion revolves around the recent updates in Thailand’s immigration rules regarding tourist visas, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The post mentions that tourists are allowed to extend their stay until July 31 despite their visas expiring earlier. Comments reflect various personal experiences and questions about visa types, including Non-B visas and the implications for those who have been laid off or have visas about to expire. There’s also advice regarding checking with immigration for individual cases.

this is what my agent send me as a message. Sounds plausable. Be aware :

The automatic visa extension is for tourists wishing to stay until JULY 31. Once the airport opens up again those under this extension they MAY have to leave, and when they wish to come back they MAY have to get a visa from the Thai Consulate, and MIGHT also have Covid19 health insurance.

Please share our contact information if you know anyone that needs LONG TERM visa services. Immigration is still open for these services.

Stay safe 🙏

I'm pretty sure the idea is for all of the tourists to leave and I doubt the majority of tourists could afford to stay in Thailand for an extra 3 months anyway. As of today no foreigners can enter Thailand and no one knows when they will be allowed in nor what conditions will be imposed upon them when they can.

Great governance. Thanx Thailand.

if your visa isnt valid then no, you should go to immigration and ask what can be done.

Like being in prison ?? I don’t know what prisons you have experience of but I’d like to try them 😉

You can leave anytime ( if you've got anywhere to go)

All sounds good , but if pretty much everywhere is a ghost town it’s a shame you can’t enjoy your extension to the full, it’s ok for people who have friends/family/ wife’s/property/accommodation etc in thailand ,but for your 2 week millionaires it’s like being in prison, friend of my sons stuck out there and he’s broke ,plus I can’t help thinking that once flights kick off again and borders etc open again you will be shown the door as you have “overstayed”your welcome ,.

Personally, I'm happy leaving when this is over, but I'm even happier getting 5 months of hassle free time in Thailand.

The amnesty is to give time for people to find flights and make arrangements to get home. It's not a sightseeing opportunity.
