I have METV and need to do a border bounce.. If I catch a flight into Udon Thani at 4:00pm that is enough time to make it to Nong Khai?

All I need to is go across - stamp out of Thailand, Stamp into Lao, then the do it again the other direction? Should I stay any length of time?

Anything I am missing?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The traveler is asking if there is enough time to make it from Udon Thani to Nong Khai for a border bounce after landing at 4 PM. Responses indicate it should be enough time if the flight is on schedule and there are no minimum stay requirements in Laos, but a visa for Laos (costing $30 to $50 depending on nationality) is necessary. Some comments suggest enjoying a longer stay in Laos instead of rushing back, while other advice includes the option of a border bounce in Myanmar.

Always wonder why ppl rush back. Laos is wonderful for a few days. Why not just enjoy the change? Some ppl compare it to Thailand

Its nice enough.. I could enjoy for a couple of days. My rush -- is because I am being cheap and nothing more.

Assuming your flight is at 16:00 and it is on time, then that is more than enough time to get up to the border. There is not, AFAIK, a minumum stay requirement in Laos, but you will need to buy a visa for Laos, which will cost between $30 and $50 depending on your nationality (there are a small group of countries that get visa free entry to Laos, however). Make sure you have US$ for the Laos visa, as, though they accept baht, they give you a very poor rate.

@Liam ****
There is no actuall rate. If you pay in baht it's 1500 and has been for over 10 years, regardless of the exchange rate. Obviously, as you say, for some citizens it works out a tad cheaper to pay in US$, if you happen to have them.

I'd say IF you're in Bangkok bounce out and back in at the Phu Nam Ron border with Burma in Kanchanaburi with thaivisaservice.com one morning.

This visa service does not use death vans?

As always Tod.. Thank you for knowing and sharing so much.

and why would you go all the way to Nong Khai to bounce in and out at Lao on an METV?

Don't you need to buy a lao visa to get into lao?

What is your recommendation. I also would have to buy a Cambodia visa?

There is no requirement to stay any length of time. Just go around the building after stamping in to Laos, and stamp out again, take the bus over the bridge again and stamp in to Thailand

But you need to pay Lao visa. Much better do a border bounce in Myanmar.

You will have plenty of time for that.. boarder closes at 10pm
