Any speculation about when they'll announce the new Visa policies.
I need to apply for a new visa but it seems pointless if they're going to change visa exempt timelines.

TLDR : Answer Summary
There is considerable speculation about the announcement of new visa policies for Thailand, with various comments suggesting potential timelines ranging from June to September 2024. Many community members express skepticism about the reliability of these speculations, highlighting that there has been no official announcement. A few suggest alternative routes, such as applying for a 60-day tourist visa instead of waiting for the visa exemption changes, which may still be speculative. Overall, the community advises patience and suggests that until official information is published in the royal gazette, any proposed policy changes remain uncertain.

In-between, now and when it happens. Best way to look at it.

Wonder why Malaysia. Singapore Japan has 90 days without visa to entry these countrie> Hope Thailand will have the same policy.
Yes 90 days would be consistent and competitive with other nations benefiting from tourism.

I left for Indonesia last week and went to ask Immigration whilst I was going through passport control. They told me there is no definite date yet, but they are aiming for early-mid July. They hope the date will be confirmed in the next couple of weeks.

Depends on which of the policies you want to know about.
If it is the 60 day visa excempt, then the solution is easy.
Spend around 1300 Baht, and get a 60 day Touristvisa.
It will be a minor expense in the travelbudget for a 60 day travel to Thailand.
Apply easy online, thaievisa.go.th 2-4 weeks ( depending on home country ) before departure, and the visa will come as email 1-2 weeks before departure.
there were ZERO official statements which said they start on June 1. This was just a media hype, and a huge face loss when the U.K. Foreign Ministry published it on their website

Why ask for speculation, best to ask how to find out when it's law?
I just got approved for a 60 day tourist e-visa. Applied online. Had to show proof of lodging (can cancel later) and a flight out (cheap flight to Malaysia). Visa exemption isn’t 60 days yet.

it's actually possible, that the change to 60-days visa exempt will never be introduced. It won't be the first time that planned and published changes will end in the bin. As soon as the lawmakers will realize that these 60 days visa exempt are resulting in a huge loss of revenue otherwise gained by selling tourist visa and extensions for a fee, they might step back from the plan
the revenue from visa fees is minimal compared with the economic benefit of tourism. There has been quite a bit of research on this and moving from visa to visa free has resulted in huge economic returns for countries that have done it. The stated point of all this is to increase tourism to boost the economy, as they figure tourism is one of the few things that could have a short term impact.
"revenue from visa fees is minimal" . . . . .the cabinet press speaker last week admitted that the revenue loss is a "triple billion Baht" number. You forget that not only visa fees are a moneymaker, but also the 1900.- THB extensions. If only 10 million tourists out of 28 million in total, buy a 40.- USD tourist visa, the revenue is more than 400 millions USD per year

Speculation is what FB is good at, no need for facts
FB is full of experts so thats makes it even more interesting. A FB expert is someone who knows someone who's brother drinks at this bar who knew a guy who owned one!
much speculation and its rife. Nothing legislated as yet

Plenty of speculation! Now back in November the government was thinking about a 90-day visa free entry for Europeans. Seven months on, and suddenly.......nothing has happened. My advice to people is not to hold your breath - the Thai media is infamous for jumping the gun and glorifying any proposals. In the long run it'll probably turn into a 60-day visa exempt for the next six months, or something along those lines
Nobody can give you any date as yet, as no official date has been given.

It’s also fairly pointless to go by Internet speculation

Let me check my crystal ball.
The only information so far was the PM's office that said visa exempt possibly end of June or early July, and that's considered one of the "short term" items.
Anything to do with visas is considered medium term and the rumor on those is September.
